Hi Friends,
First of all, we wanted to say thank you!
It's been one week since we released the news of our interactive concert live stream – and we are overwhelmed by the positive feedback we have gotten from you.
In addition to your creative ideas and suggestions, we are happy to see that you truly understand – and support - why we are doing this. Not just to push the boundaries for what's possible in the age of technology (okay - that too!). But more importantly, how technology can help you feel connected across time and space.
With this event, we hope to make you feel connected through a shared passion of music.
After reviewing more than 200 different name suggestions, it was clear that one name kept reappearing.
As a result, we are super excited to invite you to The Phone Dome Concert ft. Mads Langer – taking place on Friday 4th December, at 7 PM GMT+1.
We look forward to sharing our hard work with you, but until then – we thought we would give you a little sneak peek of how the live stream rig works – in true OnePlus fashion
So, if you are curious about how the Phone Dome works? Then read on!
- The Phone Dome is built out of 80 stainless steel tubes placed together in a grid – fastened with 80 nuts and bolts, which – fun fact: is the approx. number used in a smartphone.
The Dome weighs 150 kg in total, standing 4m tall and 2.35m wide.
- The Dome took a week to design – and one day to construct. Materials were sourced by an industry expert and were actually changed from aluminum to stainless steel halfway through the process, to provide a more stable construction. Phones are secured to the rig with slim-fitting phone holders in stainless steel.
- The interactive concert will be streamed entirely on OnePlus devices, ensuring high quality and real to life video content thanks to the powerful video capabilities of OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T. The phones are connected through wifi - with one connection dedicated to the VIPs inside the Dome - and a second connection for the Instagram live streams sent to the rest of the world.
- VIPs inside the Dome are connected through a virtual meeting room, to allow for interaction with the artist – or each other. Each VIP winner will “own” a device inside the Dome, meaning their beautiful face will be visible throughout the concert – hereby providing an interactive experience through personal connection.
- To ensure the best concert experience outside of the rig - we have custom-built a gimbal – making it possible to move around eight phones in a fast and smooth manner. This way, you get to experience the concert from different angles – capturing the best content from the event.
- The Phone Dome Concert - brought to live by OnePlus devices - will feature OnePlus NORD, OnePlus 8 Pro and the latest OnePlus 8T.
- There will be 74 phones in total for the Phone Dome Concert:
- 16 phones used to provide visuals and background lighting during the concert
- 50 phones for VIP ticket holders – these are mounted to the Dome rig – acting as one big video conference
- 8 phones used on the gimbal – capturing the best content and angles during the concert – and sending it live to your home
We wanted to make sure that everyone could enjoy the concert from their preferred platform. That’s why we are both streaming the concert on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.
