Facing the same issue just more intense. 5-6 times per song. Replaced the earphones still the same error. I observed the issue is with oxygen os and OnePlus phones. Rest company phones works fine.

    Same issue for me!
The buds Z are basically unusable while moving or wearing something on your head. :((
Really hope for an update to disable that feature.

Request you to follow the below steps
    1. Place the earphones into the charging box with the cover opened.
    2. Press and hold the setup button on the charging box for 10s, and release the button after the indicator blinks red for five times. The earphones then are restored to factory settings.

Doesn't fix anything. The sensors are simply too sensitive.

I also face this issue. I love the One Plus Buds Z but this is pretty annoying. Hopefully OnePlus comes with an update that fixes this

same issue, makes the buds nearly unusable when walking/exercising...have OP done any testing at all before releasing them? I now regret my purchase.

    Fix:

Even I had issue on the first day of usage.

    1. Try resetting your Buds z.
    2. Check for the firmware is up to date.
    3. After wearing buds, you need to give little push inside to fit completely into ear.
    4. Try changing silicone earbuds to fit your ear size.

I bought it on Jan 01' 2021. I have resetted the buds, as I found some minor issues.

    Current firmware : 342.342.236

    No issues as of now.

My wife has reported the same issue. Audio (regardless of source i.e. Youtube, Audible, Spotify) pauses every so often. Does seem to be related to the proximity sensor. Hopefully this can be addressed with an update

Yes, it's beginning to become hilarious. It would make more sense to buy a pair of headphones on the street rather than to buy OnePlus' flagship headphones. To be honest, I'm quite convinced they haven't even tested this crap and OnePlus is just drop-shipping this product. Catastrophic.

A safer bet for us is to be faster pressing "play"..... Or just buy Huwaei or Samsung hardware instead

I am also facing the same issue, but I don't think it's because of proximity sensors. In my case, while listening to any audio the audio stops and starts but it doesn't pause, it's like, for one sec the audio transmission from mobile to buds stops, but the audio isn't actually stopping or pausing. If song has lyrics ABC, I am only able to listen A and C but not B. Its happening very frequently...

Yes. Perhaps it will be better to switch to another brand of phones and accessories, but there aren't many other vanilla manufacturers out there. I would prefer a European or American vanilla manufacturer, and only local eavesdropping.

Yes, we are all experiencing this issue. Unfortunately, I think that an OS-update is required rather than a earbuds update. OnePlus has not communicated any update.

Mine are even pausing or cutting just when sitting down. Shameful really haha.

Thanks for your post kimh! Yes... It's really terrible.
