[Submitted] Call audio problems after Android 10 update

    After updating to Android 10 mic picks up voice low/muffled during calls also audio from other side of calls will be high pitched, squeaky, choppy and unable to understand sometimes. Tested with multiple callers, on multiple carriers and different towers. Restarting the phone fixes the problem temporarily.

    Hello,

    I am facing somewhat similar issue. After updating to Android 10, the calling feature is not at all working fine. Most of the times, when I make a call, the phone automatically makes the call on speaker mode without selecting the speaker button which means I cannot switch to handset mode. Even after that, most of the times the voice is not going through i.e. the other person is not able to hear me while I can hear them.

    The phone works fine when someone else call on my phone only if I keep it in handset mode which is by default. If I switch to speaker mode, the other person doesn't hear me on speaker mode nor on handset mode thereafter.

    Restarting phone temporarily resolves the issue.

    Please suggest what to do.

    Same issue here. After the update to 10 on some calls I only hear screeching sounds. The other side hears me fine. But I can't hear them.
    Restarting doesn't always solve the issue for me. Switching to speaker helped a couple of times.
    Oneplus 5T, on Mint Mobile (T-mobile).

    Same. High-pitched voice on the other end of a call, but they here me normally. Tried resetting APN with no change. Carrier is Ting.

    I have exactly the same issue after upgrading to Android 10 on my OP5T. I've sent the phone for repair, they fixed it. It took more than a week. Today I installed another update and the issue is freaking back. WTF is wrong with this phone and how to fix it???

    Looks like I found a way how to fix this bs. Try turning on/off the speaker function during a call. I tried this and it worked.

    I am having the same issue, updated yesterday and now when someone calls I can't hear them.

    Have to call back to get proper audio. Also speaker activates by itself.

    Today I got a call and my ringtone changed by itself also.

    Phone was working fine before the update, now several issues.

    Please can someone fix these issues or recommend something to fix?

    I have the same issues with calls on my 5T after this last update. Call regular/speaker problems, call on bluetooth devices problems(like my car)..
    Can't hear the other side/they can't hear me.
    I'ts about a month already this problem, can you solve it? Do we need to buy another phone because of it?

    Well, turning on/off speaker function during a call helped but just temporary. Issue comes back like every second call. Extremely frustrating!!!

    I have the same issue with one plus 5, no audio at all in a call...
    So i can not call. totally incredible ....
    I can hear in whatsapp call but not is gsm ...

    Seriously considering ditching the phone at this point. I can't work with the sounds not working on calls. Imagine waiting for 25 minutes to speak to a customer service rep and they can't hear you and hang up...

    I am having the same issue. So far, the speaker trick has worked as a work-around. I even tried reverting to the Beta 3 version of android 10, and I'm still getting the problem. Restarting my phone makes the problem return after invoking the speaker toggle work-around.

    I thought it was related to the stock phone app, so for a while, I had success using Google's phone app, installed via a hack. However, now even that has started to show the same issue. This leads me to believe the problem is in the android system itself, maybe the kernel, even.

    This is a pretty critical issue - I mean, these are PHONES, right? We should be able to make calls without having to jump through obscure work-arounds and hacks in order to hear the person we're talking to. Eagerly awaiting a hotfix.

    I'm having similar problems. Since os 10 update, speakerphone doesn't work at all. Sometimes the caller can't hear me.

    I am having this problem also for over a month. I initially Filed a Bug and MDMujtaba999 sent me a message with the DEBUG info OnePlus needed. Within 2 Days I submitted all of the Info they asked for and like most of you was told "we are working on it".... Its been over a month???

    I've still NOT heard any update from ANYONE !!

    The Covid Pandemic is going on and my Oneplus 5 is basically now useless to me.

    Can you PLEASE post some sort of Progress Report from the Developers... these Phones are CRITICAL Life/Death issues during the COVID Pandemic.... hopefully someone doesn't DIE because they can't call a Doctor or 911

    I am having the same issue since I upgrade. whomever I am calling everyone is complaining my audio is going in and out and they are having a lot of difficulties hearing me. this is a very critical issue. with this issue, the phone is almost useless. I hope Oneplus is not forcing us to upgrade by pushing these kinds of bugs intentionally. Can anyone from Oneplus respond back what's the status for addressing this?
