Calling all Quick Charger 2.0 Owners on CM based 5.1.1 ROMs

    Dr. Indest , Sep 8, 2015 :
Edit: we are missing the system file: /system/bin/hvdcp ...Gonna try to find the CM file and make a flashable zip.

If you have a Quick Charger 2.0, run a CM 12.1 based rom, on stock kernel, with a build date post August 1st and are rooted, please do the following:

    • Download a terminal app
    • Download Battery Monitor Widget
    • Open Battery Monitor Widget> Install as system app (in the stats section)> reboot
    • Plug the device into a quick charge charger (I don't own one, sorry)
    • The open terminal and run:
      • Code:
        su
        /system/bin/hvdcp
      • Assuming the kernel added QC support for our device.
    • Open Battery Monitor Widget, screenshots the charge stats and share it with us.
    Thanks in advance :)

I don't have a 2.0 charger. If I did, I would have not made this thread lol.

    • Run a CM 12.1 based rom
    • On stock kernel
    • With a ROM/kernel build date post August 1st

I would definitely try it if I had a quick charger! I'm also really curious...

On Amazon type on quick charge 2.0, they have to be certified by Qualcomm, good brands are anker and auquily

Copy paste from Qualcomm's website Important bits highlighted

    1 Based on internal tests charging a 3300mAh battery using a [1] QC2.0 USB wall adapter (9V, 2A), [2] USB wall adapter (5V, 2A), and [3] USB wall adapter (5V, 1A), respectively. (February 2013)

Well from a quick glance it looks like the OPO kernel may support it due to generic CM additions, hence this post. However, I doubt the OP2 kernel has it. The OP2 kernel is still OEM. OP opted not to pay the licensing fee (according to others), so I doubt they added it to the kernel.

Does this include COS12.1? I've got a quick charger. Latest CM12.1 rom I have is from late June. :D

Edit: Never mind. Just tried it and "hdvcp not found".

Not really. You can try though. It won't hurt. However, saying it does not support it does not really prove anything since the kernel is outdated.

But if it works, it will be groundbreaking news.

I believe the code for enabling Quick Charge 2.0 was integrated into CM some time in July. So I guess it should work on COS12.1.
