I took two different photos from the primary camera( oneplus 8).

One from a normal distance and other with the 2x Zoom. I found out that both of these pictures were totally different from each other and the one with the zoom is captured with faded colors. Can i know if everyone is noticing the same problem

Just to be clear, since you're using digital zoom the quality will not be similar. I have observed different color representation in the main camera and wide angle lens. But this does seem to be reasonable.

It is bloody annoying that not all camera's result in photos that are similar in color and white balance.

I purchased recently OnePlus 8 pro and I am noticing this issue of faded photos with main camera. The camera colors seems to be little under saturated. I dnt know but if we compare with 7 pro, camera is under saturated.

Just to be clear that both of these pictures are taken from the same primary camera and the zoom should cause problems to picture quality not picture colors. This is frustrating and you cannot back oneplus on the argument that since I'm using digital zoom so my photo's colors will turn out to be fading. 🤔 I'm a big time fan of oneplus but this is Disappointing.

@Tushar9625 What you say is acceptable, OnePlus 8 doesn't have a telephoto lens unlike the 8 pro rather a digital zooming function is provided. It is not just cropping but also some processing of the image to retain quality and details. Your complain is acceptable but try to crop from a image and upscale it and compare it with the digital zoom.

I am not saying OnePlus has good camera, but it is hard to expect better color retention and details from a digital zoom. 8 pro should be able to handle it better.

The thing is when i need a portrait shot, it is the problem and that's what I'm trying to explain you. The thing is you don't get a portrait click by just cropping a normal picture. This is something that's highly disappointing from Oneplus.

I understand your frustration, if you need a better portrait to your liking then pro mode is the way to go. I will also be happy if OnePlus is able to rectify this, but I am not sure because I have faced similar issues with smartphones which lack telephoto lens. Maybe OnePlus might come up with a fix. Until then I would suggest to make use of the integrated pro mode. Gcam is there but it oversharpens the portrait pictures, and the app itself is buggy.

Sorry I couldn't help you any further.

Yes its not even a 30000 phone. It's a freaking 50000 phone and all they're doing is messing the camera quality. They could have improved it when they know it's price range is way too high.

Colors will vary depending which lens you use. Generally the primary camera gives more accuracy whereas the other ones such as wide angle or Telephoto; they sacrifice color accuracy to provide you extra functions.

I've the same problem and I've already reported it to OnePlus with logs last month and they said they're working on it but I don't think so they'll fix it.

Agree with you, but me personally never had high expectations for OnePlus's implementation of image processing. Even then my only complaint is the front camera which is said to be fixed in the latest update. But I have grown to like the pro mode, there are lot of threads related to photography and pro mode. You would be surprise to see how better your shots will turn out to be. Use a good image editing application like Snapseed.

Yes but i guess the sensor they're currently using on OP8 is able to do much more than it is currently doing. I, as i know about pro photography a bit can click good pictures but someone who has not much knowledge about it won't be using pro very often.

Yeah, there is always room for improvement. But I would say the following with the experience with the camera in OnePlus 8,

    1. the macro can almost be deemed useless.
    2. The main camera is good respectably better than 7T, I have compared some images with my friends device and I could notice an obvious improvement.
    3. Nightscape is inconsistent, I always use the pro mode for night photography.
    4. Video quality is resceptable.
    5. Wide angle and front camera are okay.

For a person who takes picture with a click of camera button, this is definitely not the best choice, Samsung's, Huawei, and apple are much better in that case. So as a user of OP8 I expect the camera experience to improve further, with updates and further optimization, until then pro mode is a very handy tool.

And my suggestion for you would be change your device, OnePlus 8 pros camera hardware is much better, and takes better picture, or iPhone 11, or Galaxy S20 series phones would be a better buy.

All OnePlus cameras has thing issue in color accuracy. I am fed-up with OnePlus devices. And surely will not buy any oneplus devices in future.

And they never address this issue. Whenever you click a dark color the final picture would have came with a different color shade always which surely disappoints you.

I can use pro mode. I am talking on a general perspective. People here buy phones on the basis of the brand value. You cannot just expect everyone to be an expert pro mode user. I hope you're getting my point here.

I won't say that this would be a good idea just to leave oneplus because of camera. The other things they have are at their best. But they need to learn from the feedback or these posts here that they're lacking the camera quality on their phones
