Camera problem on OnePlus 8T... Oct 20, 2020

    All portraits are in 2x mode

    OnePlus 8T's portraits in 2x mode noticeably comes washed-out and over-processed
    Color details are not enough
    Pictures comes out over-smoothed
    It's more noticeable at night times (even in indoors)!
    There isn't much we can do in the post with
    the stock portraits
    .
    I pre-ordered 8T impressed by the camera performance of the 7 pro
    But had to say 8T's camera is really a step down.
    "very inconsistent" in zoomed portraits atleast

    Not happy with the camera performance
    .
    There is a serious Camera software improvements required for 8T's 2x portrait mode atleast
    .
    It's an software issue and can easily be fixed!
    .
    .
    I hope OnePlus will not Settle and do something about it!!

    Indoors. Haven't tested it in outdoors. But pictures indoors (even with sufficient lighting) is bad, and other effects like portrait mode are plain HORRIBLE. I'm on OOS 11.0.5.6.

    It is one thing to have bugs and completely another to release a half-baked software. The camera performance is plain BAD, and in many ways worse than that of phones half the price. OnePlus is now a 6 years old company and is among the top 3 smartphone brands in the premium category. Besides, the hardware isn't new either. They have used the 2 years old IMX586 and not the IMX689 sensor. They really don't have an excuse apart from taking responsibility and fixing it soon.

    I had same problems indoors, but outdoors it was fine, then I realised it was flickering in indoors because of the light bulbs frequency itself. But one thing peculiar what I noticed is that I didn't face any issue while using the Gcam port on my 8T even in indoor conditions.

    Yeah camera is the main area where OnePlus have to do much work considering the camera sensor is a 2 year old hardware piece.

    The main complaint against 8T is the camera. It is not just BAD for its price, but BAD in absolute terms.

    I have also noticed that the camera on my OnePlus 5 is HORRIBLE too. The performance indoors (even under sufficient lighting) is plain HORRIBLE.

    It is impossible I wouldn't have noticed this earlier if it was this bad. What that means is OnePlus has RUINED the camera software in recent builds.
