Read every reply in this thread. Thank you all for the attention and discussions on the camera. That’s always the motivation for our team to continually work hard to meet your exceptions.

The camera team have been working all the time on analyzing and fixing issues. Every system update contains code from camera of improving the camera quality. I believe some of you receive an update when you got your OnePlus 7 Pro. That’s a significant update for camera and I think you don’t want to miss it. Moreover, we are working on the next update which is going to be rolled out in a week or so. This update contains improvement on the HDR effect and Nightscape mode, and more tweaks based on some feedbacks from you and reviewers. From our test, photos look substantially better.

Certainly more tweaks are on-going and we need more time for testing. They will be released in the following system updates.

Camera quality is quite subjective and uncontrollable since everyone can capture an awful photo in a random scenario. Even though the photo is not quite bad technically, there is always someone giving negative opinion only for the reason that he likes more appealing photo style. Every time when there is a photo sent to us due to negative feedback, our engineers are requested to find the same light condition and object of same color and texture to simulate the photo in order to reproduce the same problem. You can imagine the time and workload needed for fixing every single problem, not to mention the dozens of photos we got from all over the world everyday. We hope you guys could understand and allow us more time keep working on the camera.

It’s an impossible task to meet everyone’s requirement and taste. But we do take every feedback seriously. We welcome anyone to send photos or videos that you are not satisfied with to us. It would be better if there is a better one attached for comparison. That would save lots of time for us :)

    Never Settle.

Would love to give some feedback on your questions.

    1. There is a tradeoff between sharpness and noise level. If we increase the sharpness, there will be more noise and then we need to comfort those who complain about noise. For now we think we find a good balance. Maybe more sharpness in some indoor scenes, will need to get more photos and feedback to decide. Contrast and color saturation is a matter of taste. But we notice now people love more appealing photos so we are doing some tweaks on it.
2.Same situation as the sharpness and noise
3.Sensor size of wide angle lens is not as large as the main camera. That's the limitation. Better to capture well-lit scene.
4.We do notice clarity loss issue on the portrait mode. Still working on it. Main camera is not the best for portrait since the equivalent focal length is 26mm which is too wide.

I'm having a problem with the video quality. A video recorded at 1080p60fps, looks fuzzy for some reason. Not blurry but almost staticy. The camera on my 6T definitely did not look like that. Is anyone else having this problem? I am a YouTuber so this really isn't acceptable.

Guys I think that the phone might need a software update. remembered something like this happened with the OnePlus 6 and 6T (with the nightmode)
I was just about to buy this phone.. maybe I'll wait and let's see cuz my OnePlus 6T has a very very good camera and I can't believe it can downgrade like that.
let's give a week or so. Talk with costumer support and make sure OnePlus know this is happening.

I think you're right I remember seeing something on the dxomark site saying the software they are testing isn't going to be on the phone until a future update

It weird because I must have watched about 50 different reviews yesterday and none of the video shot with it in the reviews looked this bad. Infact the video looked fine in the reviews. Granted I am using the TMO variant but I can't imagine that would affect it to much.
