Can I unlock carrier compatibility on OnePlus 8 T mobile version bought from OP store? Oct 4, 2021

    Hello!

    My mom, who lives outside the US wants the OnePlus 8. However, the OnePlus 8 sim free version is out of stock on the OP website. I was wondering if the OP8 T mobile version would work internationally right away as I am buying it with full price from OP store, not from T mobile.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Err... no, it'll come with T-Mobile's proprietary firmware and will have to be converted to the international ROM (which is a lengthy process, mind you), you're better off looking at resellers/eBay.

    I have a support ticket open with OnePlus to see about getting a T-mobile 7T purchased directly from OnePlus carrier/network/SIM unlocked as T-mobile support said they could not do it and the place where I purchased it would have to unlock it.

    I am still waiting for a response from OnePlus support.

    Why wouldn't you just buy a network-unlocked 7T from a reseller?

    I am a T-Mobile customer already and the price was right so it's working fine for me right now.

    Just looking to network unlock in case I upgrade to a new phone and either want to sell this one off or load custom ROMs on it.

    If you buy it out right you can network unlock it the day you get it I know this to be true because I bought my OP8 from OP website but it was T-Mobile version soon as I received it I network unlocked it

    There is a setting in the network menu that says unlock device all you have to do is click on it as long as your phone is paid off it will unlock instantly

    Hi there, I was reading this thread, and if I am understand right, once I (not a T-Mobile customer) will buy Oneplus 8T for $349 from OP store
    https://www.oneplus.com/oneplus-8t and send it to my brother overseas in a sealed box without any usage here, he can just connect to Wi-Fi and follow the guide and have permanent unlock or I am missing something?

    I also heard that it needs to be used at least 4 days with T-Mobile service before you can be eligible to unlock, anyway ended up getting CN version of Oneplus 8T KB2000 will get it from China and than will reflash to global rom :) I want to have 8T even in 2022 because this is the last real Oneplus phone :)

    Yeah they said the same thing with my OnePlus 8 as well, but it unlocks without using any sim. I took me less than a minute after getting the phone set up to get it unlocked. I am not 100% sure about the 8T though.

    Let me clarify, you get Oneplus 8 directly from Oneplus store, after that opened box and without putting any sim connected to wi-fi then the rest of procedure that described above correct?
