    Same as everyone here , I have had this feature in all my phones before Samsung LG iphones Sony's and this option missing in my oneplus has changed my phone from being a pleasant necessity to being an annoying tool , I was considering getting a new oneplus but just this lack of consideration from them and to deny us this simple but necessary option is a total deal breaker for me.
    I'm going to get a new Samsung probably and it's a shame because I love oneplus....

    Unlike others, I'm not going to pitch a hissy fit in comments but I *am* mildly surprised such a simple feature is lacking.

    I can easily turn off some of the more irritating notifications -- I don't *need* to constantly hear who's responded on social media -- but it seems pretty simplistic to want your notifications and ringer to be two different volumes, especially if you're in a spot where you'd rather silence.

    I don't mind tinkering with apps or customizing, but the end user shouldn't need to do that if you want them to convert from a "flagship" to a "flagship killer" device.

    I'm just adding my voice to this. I have the 7T and my text message notification sound is way too loud. I end up keeping my phone on silent most of the time, which means I sometimes miss calls. If this doesn't get fixed for the 7T, I'm not sure I'd consider buying a future model. My old Motorola phones all had this feature. Thanks.

    I just made an account to upvote this thread. I can't believe such a basic feature doesn't exist on a phone like my 8 Pro. This is quite frustrating and even makes me want to switch back to Samsung because of it.

    At night I want to be able to be called, but not disturbed by messages people send me. Just setting it to vibrate doesn't fix that for me, neither does setting the phone to silent completely.

    Is there a workaround for the omission of this very basic feature?

    Sharing my solution to the problem here:

    If you just want to silent the notifications sound, rather than controlling the volume, you can configure the "do not disturb mode" to "restrict notifications" and set "calls" as the only exception. Then simply start ''do not disturb mode'' any time you want to silence notifications.

    Very annoying that you can't set Notifications volume independently from Ring volume. Dodging this with the psychoacoustics is dumb excuse.

    This feature is long overdue, it is so annoying not being able to have different volume settings for ringer and notifications, so much so that when I come to purchase my next phone this feature will be at the top of my must have list
