since the last few days my phone is changing the display hue's all by itself. after a few days I noticed that the change was happening when I use chrome. it come backs to normal after I turn the phone of by double tapping or by clicking the power button. it's downright annoying that I have to do that every time I use chrome. is anyone else with me?

If its happening in Chrome, its a Chrome issue and @ItsRavi25 suggestion above does fix the issue in most cases if done correctly.

You can also Enable or Disable DC Dimming as well to see if that can also help

It helped for a while but now it doesn't work anymore. When I close Google Chrome the display colors are way to bright, especially red/orange colors. Its beginning to do the same in the Youtube app as well but the display goes dark and with weird red/orange colors (as Google Chrome) and you have to increase brightness to see properly. Very strange. Oneplus 6T 8/128.

YouTube, Chrome and other apps use the Google Framework to function.

It's possible that chrome has updated and has overwritten the changes you made, and that's why it may happen again.

Try @ItsRavi25 steps again to see if they work again. You may have to apply the fix each time Chrome or possibly parts of Google Framework and Services update. These happen in the background so won't be obvious updates.

Let us know how that works out. 👍

I tried @ItsRavi25 steps again and it is still disabled from last time so nothing has changed. I tried to enable it and then disabled the setting again and it still doesn't work properly ☹️

Have you also tried to Enable/Disable DC Dimming as well, just in case that's the cause?

As a matter of interest, what version of Chrome are you running.
My version is in the image below.

I have the same version of Chrome (87.0.4280.141). Where do I enable/disable the DC Dimming setting. Chrome?

    Settings>Utilities>OnePlus Laboratory.

Try it opposite to the way it Is set now. Restart the phone after you change it, let us know if it helps

I recently watched YouTube for a while and the wrong color hue is back ☹️ It's not as bad as before but still the red and orange tones are quite exaggerated but not as bright as before.

Have you also tried a different Screen Calibration, you have quite a few options in there, go through each to see if any give a better colour experience.

Great tip but I have tried several options and I have found a setting that's perfect. But it changes temporarily when I (sometimes) use Google Chrome or Youtube for a while. The only way to "reset" the screen to my preferred setting is to let the phone sleep (push the power button) and then wake the phone up again. Then it's back to normal. My guess is that the phone somehow sets the screen to max warm setting and that's triggered by some apps using the Google framework.

Possibly the case. Be hard to pin it down. But you could report that in to the Developers and bug hunters at the links below.
