No use. I cleared the cache. Chrome itself is not getting updated. I'm using 6t. But after the recent oxygen update which i got yesterday solved the issue. Tried 2-3 times updating it manually but failed again, then finally to my luck it got updated on it's own.

Sometimes such bugs needs an update. Glad that your problem is resolved. Clearing Cache is one of the best option to get rid of these.
    Thanks

Clear the App info Cache and App info Storage for all 4 items

    Google Playstore
    Google Play services
Google Services Framework (Search in Setting for this)
    Google App

    Restart the phone.

It may take a while for Google to rebuild its services Playstore etc.
