    Hello Devs,

Wanted to request you if you can enable the lock screen security so that its not possible to Shut Down the OnePlus phones if its locked.
This is useful during travel, because here in India, thieves steal our phones and they can get away because they shut them down immedietly after stealing.
So we can not use google service to find it, we can not ring it using different phone, we can basically 'do nothing' once its stolen.

Once phone is shut down, they can easily hard reset it while starting it, wiping it clean of any security settings or existence of us.

Currently we can shut down any OnePlus phone in lock screen mode which is not safe at all.

So please consider this request as an additional safety measure and more useful than any other safety features.

(Samsung phones can not be shut down in lock screen mode)

I have OnePlus 6 and my old phone is Samsung J7 Pro.

So requested this feature for OP devices as well.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Ravi

This has been brought up multiple times in the past. There are ways around what you're asking for. Like my good friend @toastytoast1234 mentioned above, someone with a paperclip can just pop the sim card. Also, there's a failsafe in case of a frozen device where you can hold the power button for 10 seconds and force a reboot.

The only true security is to keep a better watch over your device.

Removing sim card is of course we can not avoid. However lets make it as much hard and time consuming as possible.
What if I get to know that my phone is flicked in a bus and I use my friends mobile to ring mine?
that is possible in few seconds or may buy some time off for us

The thief can still long press the power button to power it off. It's a hardware feature.

I agree with others here, but you are free to submit your suggestion to OnePlus here:

This is where any future suggestions should go.

I steal your phone and put it in an Alu bag. It takes me 1 second.

    But an advice for you:

Install cerberus and you get All you want...

All Android phones can be powered down by holding down the power button. This will never be changed and it's up to Google to do so if it does.

You can do a lot of things to prevent you from tracking your phone.

Try long pressing Volume Up + Home + Power button. You'll then be able to reset the device on the spot.

exactly. if Cerberus can do that then why cant OnePlus?
why to rely on third party? This feature should be embedded in kernel level

    It's your choice...

Buy a phone for 500 to 600€ but don't want to spend a few bugs for an App...... That makes no sense...

I'm pretty sure that doesn't prevent someone from powering down your device. It does the same thing that Google device page does but more.

It's up to you to protect your cell not another company.

I started this thread after comparing it with another phone that can do that. I mean it wont allow us to shut down untill we put the code.

You may please try that on any Samsung S series or latest phone.

This works for all Samsung devices:

I've been able to fully reset a device that was locked with McAfee anti-virus by doing this.

Kinda Off-topic but the only thing any manufacturer could have done is storing the IMEI and serial number of the board to a non writable (physically non writable, aka PROM) area.

Unfortunately, noone has done it till now and people know they can steal and spoof a blocked IMEI and use the device.

May be, McAfee got it in the outer layer so its security was not at the kernel /BIOS level (in PC term)
Mine is locked with Samsung security which could be the reason.
Thats why I said, manufacturer level security is best at it can be embedded at root level rather than any third party solution which will sit only on top of the OS.
Even with above method, (of using 3 buttons) wont be applicable for OnePlus.
Thats how it should be designed that only the legitimate owner should be able to do that

if possible I will shoot a video of my Samsung phone and post the link here
