Hi fellow OP users. I'm still on the ancient 5.1.7 OS version (Oreo 8.1.0) and I'm extremely satisfied with it both in terms of performance and battery.

However I'm so curious about pie, oos 9 and all the features and design changes.

My question is: Should I bite the bullet and upgrade to 9.0.8 or should I not mess with anything as long as I'm happy with it.

My overall satisfaction level with my current version is 9,5/10

    Never Settle,
    Thanks in advance!

By the way my main concerns are performance, battery drain and infamous stuttering of the UI.

You should give it a shot
No one here can tell you if you should do it or no
Everyone has different usage and different results because of that
I personally have never faced your described issues from Nougat all the way to Pie (updated ASAP)
And yes both Open Beta and Stable versions

Point is only you will know if it is worth it
(remember to factory reset to avoid potential minor bugs sence Pie is a Major system update)
If not you can always downgrade

I can tell you, because I had the same concern and I have finally updated 5.1.7 straight to the 9.0.7 (clean install)
Here are the pros and cons:
    * battery life is worse (from 8hrs of SoT to 6.5-7hrs)
    * horizontal recents menu sucks. Really sucks
    * I have these famous lags (at least I think so) - it's happening from time to time and it looks like my phone is working in 30 fps instead of 60. Also it is very unresponsive in the time.
    * RAM management is slightly worse, but not as bad as I've heard.

    Good things:
    * Pie looks nicer, especially when you were using Oreo for over a year. It has new notification look, new recents menu (it sucks, but it looks nice, I can admit), some new fancy animations here and there
    * Pie fixed problems with BT headphones for me - they didn't want to connect with the phone sometimes
    * new brightness slider is better, but you will need some time to get used to it

Following the general rule - if it ain't broken - don't fix it ;)

Around 14 percent of people never update their phone’s operating system. I am on 9.0.8 and I forgot how great 5.1.7 was. so you should ask that question yourself and wait for that enlightenment from within..
