Seeing a lot of comments like "who does banking via his phone?". Well, here in The Netherlands it's quite famous. Transferring money to another account is very popular. Moreover: we use the app as a two-factorauthentication method. To be clear: we are not talking about creditcards, but normal banking.

Also seeing some comments about the nonsense argument "I have nothing to hide".

At first sight, this looks pretty ridiculous. I'm looking forward to an official statement and explanation by OnePlus. Also agreeing what @jkb114 says.

Actually, OnePlus does mention in their privacy policy that they may share data: https://oneplus.net/privacy-and-legal

It was discovered that they are using the cloud services provided by Alibaba, very similar to AWS and Microsoft cloud.

    Also stop with caps lock

Yeah, they do. It'd be more accepted by the users if the company is more clear about and transparent what they collect and share/sell. That's the main point I think; transparency.

In my opinion, for the normal user privacy policies don't matter and are pretty pointless. Users never read the privacy policy and click "ok" or "accept" instantly, but whenever there are privacy-related problems like this, suddenly they are "privacy-minded":rolleyes:o_O.

It does make sense because nobody asked for this clipboard thing but still oneplus made this while ignoring lotts of request for the necessary changes in oxygen OS. Oneplus did made this to steal data

Partly agreed. The biggest difference is that Google has a very extensive privacy policy and OnePlus hasn't. Transparency is an important thing. It is also about controlling it. In the settings of Google I can opt-out these things; OnePlus doesn't have any setting to opt-out (except the option to opt-out about 'anonymized data'.

It would be far better to jump on this immediately before there's another media storm, but I guess they may need time to investigate first - ridiculous as that sounds seeing as they pushed this code out to phones in the latest beta.

Christ, I can't believe everyone is flapping about their data being stolen.

If you don't like it get off the grid, this day and age our data is being collected by many forms. Just take a look at the following article(s) I found with a simple search on google .

    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/6-surprising-ways-your-data-is-being-collected/

I get it that many of you are paranoid because of the data breach, it was unfortunate but it happens there's no getting away from the fact that if you input any kind of data online that data is no longer private, it has to be stroed somewhere, do you know where it's being stored? Hackers will always try and find a way to steal that data, because data is money.

Exactly what I wanted to write earlier. The difference with these big companies like Apple Google etc is that you know what you opt in.

EU law is also about to change this year that u need to opt in first and not the other way. Currently u always have to opt out.

Yep, indeed! For example: Facebook will get a new privacy center which will users give more control. Same as Microsoft: Windows 10 will get a feature/app which will users give more control about what's being collected and sent.

Agree, but transparency is important as well. If the European Commission will discover that certain companies don't follow the law, they can expect high fines. Look at Qualcomm; they need to pay 997 million euros, while they made 2.5 million euros of net result.
