This is not specifically for the OP5 but OP in general. I didn't find a general category for OnePlus.

In the past OnePlus was committed to releasing 2-3 full Android for each of its devices. Which to say is not a lot since Apple supports it's phones with even upto 10 updates before the phone becomes outdated. Normally people don't have the capacity to upgrade a phone every 2-3 years. Companies should understand that and not think about their profits solely. Companies should rather build a community and support their customers. Now that OnePlus has started releasing more than 2 phones a year it appears that their interest in each phone to provide timely updates will dwindle over time. I am not even sure if they can afford to provide the same number of updates (full + security) in the near future.

    Hello there,
The current software update policy from oneplus is 2 years of software updates and one extra year of security updates.
This new software policy replaced the old one, that was 2 mayor android updates, that it was the one active when you bought your device.
So now, you are getting one extra year of secuty updates that what it was promised at that time.
Android devices and Iphones are two different systems, you should buy the one that suits your needs better. If you need the 10 updates that , according to you, apple supports, then you should buy an iphone.
You can read the oneplus software update policy here
