It may be "just" a security update, but that still makes me happy! (Assuming it doesn't introduce new bugs--I'm going to wait and see.)

new bugs? impossible , it was already full of bugs ... less is possible :)
unless they fixed nothing, then there are probably more :)

Gmail still doesn't sync, Youtube in notifications and lockscreen still looks like crap. Two basic Google apps that are not working properly on a Google based OS. Period.

Did it work for you a few hours after the reboot or not al all? Normally the syncs only works for a limited of time, then it stops synching in background

Then you have a different issue, because it works now for other users

Happy to hear OP has released a further update for the 6T. I will await the stable OTA. Lots of useful features in 11 compared to 10.

Re battery usage, if you upgrade your "Designed for Windows XP" computer to Windows 7 it runs slower. I guess we are experiencing the likely impact of OOS 11, additional power needed creating perception of battery drain.

If you *no likey" you can always rollback to OOS 10 or 9 (Windows XP for the OP6/6T

what is your exact issue? if you open gmail app and no a manually swipe, mails are coming in?
did you enable push? try to clear cache from the gmail app
    do a reboot

the old gmail notification bug with android 11.1 , was that the mails with gmail app stopped synching after a few hours after a reboot.. it worked only first hours... then probably somekind of service stopped in background, so no mails were pushed anymore...
if yours are not synching at all, even after a clean reboot, then it must be something else... also try uninstalling the gmail app and install again, disable battery optmimalization also helps...

It seems that you haven't even read the initial post directly above yours:
Nothing much of a feature update, just security update.
