updated my OP6 to Android 9.0 the screen brightness is significantly lower compared to what it was previously on Android Oreo. It doesn't create any problem at night time but using the smartphone on direct sunlight creates a problem.
    .
Am i the only one facing this problem??

I also noticed the maximum brightness of the OnePlus 6 on Pie is dimmer. So I do not think it is only you who noticed it.

Any official messages from OnePlus developpers saying that the brightness is been tweaked lower?

I don't know if it's a case of the maximum brightness being lower, or the scale of the slider has changed. The slider was too sensitive in the lower range before. Maybe they just changed the slider to be a log scale instead of a linear scale?

Yes, the brightness indeed seems to be lowered after updating to Android Pie. Hopefully, the Oneplus team will fix it via software updates.

The slider was sensitive before, agreed. But I am not getting enough brightness even when slider is at 75% now after updating to Pie!

After searching around the forum; one of the early thread a Moderator pointed out this change in all Android Pie 9.0.

    Quoted:
"Android P has been making several changes ... The slider now controls brightness on a logarithmic scale, rather than linear...XDA Portal Team over on Reddit, who notes that the previous linear configuration resulted in 90% of the perceived range being controlled by the lowest 20%, while the upper half had almost no visual difference. Now the difference in brightness seems more fluid across the entire range of the slider..."

Does anyone have a brightness detector to check if the maximum brightness of Android 9.0 is the same as the Android 8.1? :p

I am guessing we think it is less bright but the fact it is actually the same brightness?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. 100% on both scales should be the same brightness, provided it's set up correctly. It's possible the auto brightness algorithm needs some more tuning though if it's not bright enough in the sun.
