Overall screen brightness is the same, but you have more variations between lower levels.

After updating to Pie.. The brightness mark is above 75% but the display looks 25% of brightness and the battery draining fastly..
Calling display is worst ever.. The contact pics are underneath the notch and not at all impressive... In Oreo it looks good... Please change this[e]1f62d[/e]

Guys, this is not a bug. This is the new feature that was released with the Android Pie. On the main page, there is a forum regarding all the new features of Android Pie, and this is one of them.

same here, but as far as I know it was something they intentionally changed in the update.
it could be okay but now it's REALLY too low. which IS a problem.

After updating to Android Pie, the screen brightness is very low. Even after raising the brightness bar level to the midpoint, I can barely see the content of the screen in daylight. All OnePlus 6 users, Raise your hands if you too are facing this .

This is taken directly from the forum:

    1. Brightness Controller

You may have encountered a situation when you use your phone at night and it’s difficult to control the brightness – it’s either too light or too dark. The problem is because that the brightness controller is too sensitive in the low luminance range. As a result, users may not like it when the brightness changes.

Considering how are eyes are made, we decided to lower the sensitivity of the device in the low luminance range. After lowering the sensitivity, users can adjust the brightness more accurately and avoid discomfort.

No issues here. The auto brightness works even better after Pie. Highest brightness is super glaring for me now in the shade actually...

Look, I can't do anything about this change. You have two possible outcomes : 1, You either accept the change and learn to live with it, or 2, you find a way to downgrade to Oreo, if it makes you that pissed. If you choose the second variant, in the main forum, there is a tutorial on how to downgrade :)

Hey guys, with this new Pie OTA update. The brightness controller is F'ed up by the team. Now I have to slide it upto 75% to make the screen visible enough. Previously I used to keep it at 25%.

I dont know how will this effect the battery drainage.

I hope they can adjust the brightness sensitivity
