There was a thread about 15 days limit on Call History (because he gets over 30 calls a day, and Android has 500 call history limit, and there are apps that can rectify that.)

This thread was deleted without warning, I was an active participant, and was invested in it. As were many other users.

This is a user forum. Why would an overzealous moderator delete the thread?
Or was it the original poster who did it, if it's even possible?
    The thread was even useful.
    What is going on?

If the thread violated the forum rules in some way then it may have been deleted by a moderator, in which case the original poster would have been notified with the reason why but not the other participants. It's also possible that the thread starter deleted it himself as well. Either way we'll never know the reason why. If the thread was useful to you then why not start one yourself? Of course search the forum for any other recent threads on the same topic first or yours could meet the same fate for being a duplicate.

This does not answer my question at all. Could you please use your mod powers and 2 minutes of your time to answer the original question - what happened?

All joking aside, I also posted (I think?) in that thread, and it's now all poof gone without a trace.

I've had similar things happen with posts which have had 50+ likes, it's just part of the show around here.

I don't have mod powers though so I wouldn't be of much help with that. The only people who would know are the thread starter and the mod who took the action, if there was one. If you don't have their usernames then there's not much chance of solving this particular mystery.

It has never been my experience before. No just poof. Is it even possible to find out?
How can I ask an actual moderator?

Unless you know the username of the OP, (which I doubt you don't), There is nothing that can be done. Some things are meant to go, it was one of them.

Well if it worries you that much you could ask an actual moderator @SoniaB @script @pablofg1978 @keithnyc .

Keep in mind that some of them may be evil fascists, but they're also volunteers and not here to answer your every whim.

    Hope that works :)

Even if they do manage to track it down it's very unlikely that they'll reverse the decision of another moderator without extenuating circumstances though and it may not be appropriate to share the reasons why another users thread was actioned with someone else.

I am not worried, just confused. Usually threads are closed, not downright deleted without any warning. *Especially* if they may be useful.

My wildest guess would be toasty was present there, he was treating the OP and participants with utmost dignity (as he always has been doing) the situation that unfolded next would have included certain sweet words from other users, so maybe the thread was hidden altogether!

Like I said, things get weird around here sometimes.

Do you also get >33.333 calls per day?

Fcuk you, I was on my best behaviour. It was a perfectly reasonable question in a perfectly reasonable thread.

My best guess would be that the thread starter deleted it, I can't see any reason for any nuking from on high.
