OnePlus don't mention $20 tarnsaction fees (small print) 'cause buying from Hong Kong company.

In UK sell from UK company - no fees.

On transaction page "sold by Hong Kong company" is bottom left easy to miss. Why not under "place order" button.

No mention of $20 fee (small print in T&C)

In UK sell from UK company. No fee.

Pretty sure everyone knew that the phone is made in China and shipped from there to most places. How is that a scam?

UK warranty not valid in US.

Issue not where it's made but company selling it. What consumer rights do we have in US by buying from Hong Kong company.

SCAM = 1) not telling openly about Hong Kong seller (should mention under "place order" button. 2) spelling out $20 transaction fee (not in small print T&C). 3) Don't expect transaction fees for buying from US website paying in $. 4) Tax dodge by OnePlus loads additional fees on customer.

Nah. Since all the necessary information is there and clearly present upon purchase it'd take a real moron to be caught by surprise.

    No need to boycott.

Are you sure you are ordering on the US website to a US address? If you are in another country (e.g. UK), it will usually direct you to the website of that country. Go to https://oneplus.com/us/ and if it asks you which website you want to visit, click on the US one.

I don't see any $20 being added at any stage.

Please make sure you are doing everything correctly before shouting scam and all ;)

are you on the local store for your country? Or have you gone to the global store for countries that don't have a local store? No fees in UK or US if you buy from the UK or US (respectively) stores.

The fee you're talking about is from your bank, not OnePlus. All payments go through the Hong Kong company. Even in the UK or EU. Get a better bank or pay through PayPal.

Ok @V MS, this answers your question so I will close the thread as answered for the moment, unless anything further should arise.

Please note that one of the cases in which this extra charge made by your bank (not OnePlus) might occur, is if you are placing your order using a card/bank from another country than the website and shipping address you are using.
E.g. say you are currently in the UK, and you have a UK bank account, but will be travelling to the US, so you want the device to be delivered there, rather than wait for your return, and you use your UK bank account to place an order on the US website for delivery to the US. In this case it is not unusual for your bank to place such an extra charge on the order.

So you have the following options:
    - order using PayPal
    - see if a friend/family member in the US with a US bank account which doesn't make this charge can order it for you
    - find a bank which doesn't charge for such matters

Either way, it's not a charge by OnePlus, but by your bank, so there is no scam.

Should you feel the issue is not resolved after all, feel free to PM: https://forums.oneplus.com/conversations/add?to=superplus

Edit: it seems you had two threads on the matter, one in Off-topic and one in OnePlus 6, I've merged them together, please note there is no need to create identical threads in different forum sections. Please have a look at the forums' Terms & Rules, specifically the rule regarding duplicate threads (number 3).
