After updating to oxygen\android 12 I have an issue. After texting a contact a few times and getting replies from them, I stop receiving notifications of new text messages from "those" contacts. When I go into the notification settings "those" contacts have their own field. The only way I now I have a new text message from "those", is to go into the messages app and the thread is bold showing the their new message. But I do not receive any notification of a new text message. It is very strange to me because the first couple of texts messages from "those" contacts, I received notifications of a new text message. I've attached a screenshot showing what I mean by the have their own field in the notification setting area. It is "Baril" and "Leigh".

Did you click on their names? You might get a different section for those contacts if you click on them, with maybe the option to turn on notifications for each separate contact.

Yeah, I clicked on the names and you have option to change where the notifications show. I set them where I wanted (shows under the 2 names in the screenshot). And even with that, nothing

Oh i see. I'm not on Oxygen OS12 yet so I'll tag @Caomhin, he is on Oxygen OS12, to see if he knows something more about it. I assumed it would be the same as on Oxygen OS 11 as it is the google messages app.

One suggestion would be to restart the phone, I know it sounds basic, but sometimes it can fix the issue. Another would be to clear the Messages app info cache as well.

And just double check that notifications are allowed for the app in App info as well.

Appreciate the ideas. I have restarted, no luck. I've cleared app cache no luck. I've also cleared app cache and restarted with no luck. I am using Google messages (beta). I don't know if that would have something to do with it but I may uninstall the beta a d use the regular Google messages and see if that helps.

Well, I may have figured it out. So I had the beta version of Google messages installed. I uninstalled the beta and went to just the normal version and I now am receiving text messages from "those" contacts I was not before. Now that may just have been because I uninstalled the beta, and then "updated" the regular version (since you cannot completely uninstall Google messages ((I'm not rooted))). I did start by clicking "leave beta", which it removed me, but the app itself still showed (Beta) so I clicked uninstall, then update. Time will tell if I lose the notifications again after some time passes as that is what initially happened, but as of right now it's working.
