    Discoverdose, May 16, 2018 :
    It's not a 1st april joke.

    Carl PEI interview by Wired :

    "You’re releasing two new models per 12-month cycle. Can that continue?

    Right now, the vast majority of our customers are still purchasing phones online, and these customers have a very different profile: they’re very tech-savvy, they know what all the latest specs are and all the new brands. They are also less patient. You can see a clear difference between a lifecycle of a phone online versus offline. Online it ramps up really quickly and after a few months people forget about it because the next big thing is out there already. Offline the phone can live for much longer because the consumers are less swayed by the online news, but more by the salesperson in the store.

    So, right now, since our business model involves a lot of online consumers, it’s smarter for us to have two products a year. I think this will change, but it’s not going to be that quick. In a couple of years, when we have, say, 60 percent of our customers offline, then we can consider another strategy."

    Also, the OnePlus 6 has the mission to meet the demand in May, when the OnePlus 6T will have the same mission at the end of the year. That's one way to recognize the permanent movement of the smartphone market, but not to respond to those who bought a smartphone at a high price to see it being supplanted 6 months later.

    I've merged some threads (44!) and edited the title, so now we have a place to discuss all the speculations about the possible next device from Oneplus, so no need to open a ton of different threads about it everyday. :tired: Lets keep the talk around here.

    Let the speculations games begin. :p

    Personally feel that is a totally wrong strat...... Keep em keen keep em mean

    One phone a year is the way to go. The non T buyers will feel less pissed off/jealous @ the T buyers.

    Plus those who are on the cusp of buying might say nah I'll wait a few months for the T. If there was only one a phone a year they might say I can't wait a whole year and buy now instead. This makes a huge impact on sales.

    Another useless thread on useless topic begging for attention.
    Which company doesn't do 2 flagships an year other than Apple ?

    Please, spare the world your intelligence. It's already overflowing on OnePlus forum.

    I would love if there was a new OP every 3 months!

    Apple don't do flagships - they just copy more 5 year old Android features [e]1f602[/e][e]270c[/e]

    Oh I'm sorry my lord. Please forgive me.

    But every year, you've got A LOT OF guys who want to know if Oneplus will release a T version.

    OPO -> No
    OP2 -> No

    And then, Oneplus said that they will release a T version JUST if they think there is a technological gap.

    So now guys, you know that oneplus changed his policy.

    Why would I want to wait a few (6?) months for a tiny "bugfix" iteration and have 6 months less updates? How does that make sense?

    What you do or don't do is your completely your choice.

    I merely gave my opine on 2 releases per year.

    How does it matter to you? Let the 6 go on sales and let the people get it. Then they'll give you a review!
