Colour E-ink display, is it the future display tech? what do you think? Should manufactures and big companies start giving it more attention? It frustrates me that , there is less development for it.

Advantages (Compare to other display tech)
    #Minimum eye Stain
    #Best visibility Under the sun
    #Paper like colour feel
    #Lowest power consumption
    # Whites and Blacks are truly white and back

Disadvantages (Compare to other display tech)
    #Lower refresh rate

    Random Questions
< E-ink is based off of negative and positive particles, each with a different color. You can't have more than positive and negative. So how is it possible?
    >By using colour fillers

totally agree with this, if only the tech would have been more advanced i certainly would have complained one plus for not having it.
may be in another year we will see more phones coming with this tech , till then we will have to suffice with monochrome yota e-ink phones.

Would be excellent for future devices to give a boost to e-readers, giving them a combination reader/tablet feel.
The biggest issue will still be the refresh rate, and that will probably never change with e-ink tech. You're also likely to have an extremely limited range of colors.

I don't know if it's possible, because e-ink is based off of negative and positive particles, each with a different color. You can't have more than positive and negative.;):(

I would love a secondary device that utilizes E-ink, just for text messages and light web browsing.

You'd have to make them mighty small...there may be leakage..

    Good idea, though.:)

Even if it's physically possible, it would most likely be slow as a glued snail. Just look at the pageturn times of e-readers and exponentiate this number by 4.

True, but seeing how impatient people are nowadays it will just not be feasible. Just think of the delay on the homebutton in MKBHD's Oneplus One review. I didn't notice it and after I heard of it didn't care, because my phone for sure takes 5 times as long for a simple action let alone closing a game... But for many people out there this is a huge issue, so a device with two weeks battery life, but taking 30 seconds to show a new image (homescreen, website, whatever) would just not sell.

I think a coloured e-ink display comes with more disadvantages than advantages. As namidea said, it would take ages to turn a page when the is display coloured. That would be a bummer.

Therefor more development is needed , this is a video from Jul 10, 2011.

As of today its May 28, 2014 , If e ink colour display where more mainstream and consumers would have showed a longing for it , I believe e ink would have been the norm by now.

I'm interested in the tech, but I like animations and video too much to have it as my sole mobile device display.

Please do note that the word color can be spelled multiple ways haha. Good discussion though. I hope to see some better coloured e-ink display in the near future.
