I have my OnePlus 8T for 9 months now. When I make pictures in the "regular" camera mode the colours are okay but when I make pictures in portrait mode (from people or other things) the colours are totally washed out. Is this a bug with the OP 8T? Are there more people with the same problem?

Are you using a lens protector?
Can you please clear cache and data of the camera app?
Did you test it in safe mode?

I also have this problem and I don't use lens protector. It happens specially in low light situations.

I think in 2x the most part of the time. I'll test it today

8T doesn't have a dedicated zoom lens and portrait mode uses some AI, so that's probably the issue here. In my opinion the washed out colors are a lot fixed now as opposed to previous updates, not perfect but it's fine now. A little post processing and it's all good. I'd recommend shooting in 1x, zoomed 2x is the issue here.

I'm not using a lens protector, I have cleared the data and cache.
I have the problem when I use the phone in the normal way. I haven't tested anything in safe mode yet

True, the colours only washed out on 2x zoom. I think this can be fixed by a simple patch

"Portrait" does not stand for the upright format, it is for photographing faces.
    Faces! Not "other things"!

So there are some setting values differing to show ... guess what: faces ... with their skin tone.
Maybe with some smoothing and/or filtering to make the "portrait" more beautiful.

And there you may find the reason for your "issue". ;)

When I'm photographing faces the colours washed out to, when I photograph person's in my family their faces are looking grey and not coloured. The photo here is just an example, I'm not posting photos from people here because of privacy reasons

Not as easy as you think. Most or probably the AI does this bug. The issue has been improved a lot but not fully fixed. Just a suggestion : Use 1x mode always, if you need a zoomed shot just crop the 1x shot.
