No change in EU ( some protection from GDPR directive !) was allowed nor even proposed.
So no change for me and hundreds of contacts, thank you.

Had never imagined and was so much into WhatsApp that I already even had activated the WhatsApp Pay which they had only recently introduced in India.

But not only WhatsApp now have quit Facebook & Instagram too. Anyway was hardly active there so no regrets deleting FB & Insta accounts.

Although, probably what freaked me out more with WhatsApp was whether are they really capable to handle the Financial data when they didn't even bother to mention and detail what the Privacy update was for until there was a huge uproar.

Funny part is have joined both Signal & Telegram now as some of my Family, Friends or colleagues have joined either of these or even both 😂

How can you migrate your Whatsapp data to signal?

I actually managed to convince the other half of our family group to switch to Telegram and some of them have been using Signal. I've been using Telegram since 2014, but most of my siblings and their wives and partners didn't.
To be honest I was long thinking about leaving WhatsCrap, long before this issue came up. Only our family group (we're scattered across two continents and three nations) was the only thing holding me back. said:
But since Telegram was offering an import including pictures it was really a good point in time. I suggested it and was surprised that the other half was rather willingly onboard.
I can't speak for them but WhatsCrap is dead to me.

What a nonsense. As I said earlier: metadata isn't even shared. Not to mention that some (like me) did the opt-out of that in 2016. At least provide recent sources.

You say that now until you do have something to lose and then it'll be too late because they'll know what you have to lose before you even realize it.

Just install Signal its the best alternative and If you think privacy is unimportant for you because you have nothing to hide, you might as well say free speech is unimportant for you because you have nothing useful to say.

I downloaded Signal, but there are only a handful of contacts that also downloaded it. Wish more ppl would adopt because of privacy.

I am in Europe where WhatsApp was king. Work, school/parents groups etc. It's being dropped like a hot potato where I am. I personally was never a fan and have used Signal for a long time already. Now all these groups are telling me I should use Signal lol.

    Signal for the win.

That is true but people do make a difference. MySpace was a thing, ICQ was huge, AOL was a monster. Change can and does happen. Patience is what is needed but rarely exhibited.

sorry the quote did not include all of your message but I think you see my point.

Yeah man that's the thing that gets me depressed. It's like everyone has given up and fallen into that defeatist mentality. I'm sure that if billions of people took a stand against this kind of thing they would be forced to change. We're speaking with so much more than our wallets these days, we also speak with access to our data and information.
