    G‘day everyone,

Over the years, you have proven you are creative and artistic individuals who are always up for a challenge. So, we decided to find out just how resourceful you are with a Community Craft Day.

We want you to ‘think outside of the box’. Once packaging has done its job of protecting goods from point A to point B, they end up in a corner, with no additional purpose in sight. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to repurpose any box (or maybe the box your OnePlus device came in) and transform it into something useful.

Rather than simply disposing of it, you’ll have the opportunity to turn it into a phone holder. Or bird feeder. Or a jewelry box. Your imagination is the limit. You can cut, bedazzle, paint and change your box in any way you can think of.
    • Other recycling material can be used
    • And as a prize, we’ll gift you with either a $50 discount voucher for OnePlus products that available on the official OnePlus site in your area, or 1000 Community RP. The choice is yours.
    • The TOP 10 most creative box projects will win the prize!
    • Entries must be your own. Any plagiarism will result in disqualification and will be handled according to the Forum Terms and Rules.
    • Entries will be accepted until May 6th, 14:00 HKT.
    • Standard Terms and Conditions apply.
    What are you waiting for?
Get those creative wheels spinning and show us your repurposed OnePlus box in this thread!
Don't be afraid to produce some creative work!:smirk::smirk:

This is a contest I am exactly waiting for!

I have worked on various projects using packaging of OnePlus. Some of which are:
    • Storage facility for my camera gears!

    IMG_20210421_180218.jpg

    IMG_20210421_180317.jpg

    • Converting the OnePlus box to a smart speaker and charging hub
This project is a work in progress. The idea behind this was to manage the charging bricks of my laptop. Instead of making a boring box for my charger, I decided to make it a speaker box for Alexa (Echo Flex)
    IMG_20210421_181725-01.jpeg

The speaker is powered from the usb port of echo flex and audio output is via the 3.5mm jack. Inside the box, there is a 65W charging brick. The excess cables are hidden inside the box.
    • Magnetic case for my tablet

This is an age old hard drive.
The reason why it is placed in this specific box but not OP7 or any other box is that this is the perfect box for that hard disk. The length and width is ideal and the cable can be slid easily after closing the box and due to the strength of the box, the hard disk doesn't move inside.

It's a minimalistic bedside smart dock made of old OnePlus shipping cardboard.
It has Alexa as a primary smart bedside assistant. A smartphone stand working as an ambient clock in night. And it can also charge the phone with USB C cable.
I have put foam inside it for better protection and looks.
Then there's a remote dock for AC or TV remote and extra space for miscellaneous items like medicine.
Then there's a TWS earbuds space which has also got space for charging.

Disregard the absolute cluttered mess that is my bedside table.

This bad boy consists of a Netgear router box and an umbrella base box and some duct tape. It's rude, it's crude, and it's all about function baby.
    1619180520192.jpg
My room isn't exactly what I would call "large", and my massive bed takes up a good majority of it leaving my bedside table directly over and in front of my only air vent.

    1619180575215.jpg
The summers here are hot hot hot, and being on the second floor my air conditioning was my main man. I needed something to push the air up over the bedside table and out into the room

    1619180624114.jpg
Alas the air scooper XL 9000 was born, I've been using this exact spec box air Cannon for a few years now and it works fantastic.

    1619180660107.jpg
Can't forget the lower vent flap for ultimate duct air scoopage.

    Adapt, overcome, benefit.

I'm studying engineering psychology at Aalborg University and we used a OnePlus 6 box for or first semester project. We were supposed to create a device able to test a persons Critical Flicker Fusion rate, witch is the frequency where a light goes from blinking to seemingly be constant.
We used the box for the LEDs, an Arduino for the computer programming and more.
When I can get back to the university laboratories I'll hand this over, so new student will be able to have fun with it 😊 ♻️

Hi! Here's my entry for the Community Craft Day Challenge.
So I made this shoe rack/nightstand out of this large cardboard box. I'm using this from a few weeks till my proper wooden ones arrive (all thanks to Covid-19 for delaying the delivery). said:
For the middle shelf, I used another rectangular cardboard box with custom foam spacers since the box was a little shorter than the width of the larger box. At first I thought I'll remove the top and bottom flaps but then I let them be. I sometimes place stuff on the bottom flap too. Since this is a temporary piece of furniture, I didn't decorate it but as my wooden nightstand and shoe rack won't be coming anytime soon, I'll probably spray paint it or use some vinyl wrap to give it a more decent look and also add some small handles so it is easier to open the doors.
I must say it's quite sturdy as you can see I have put a lot of shoes in it. I can easily lift it and move it around and it doesn't break.
(Ignore the shoes in the bottom rack😅😂)

    Hi @Leo X. ,
Here's my Submission for a simple but very useful DIY.
These days, I am trying my hands on mobile photography, and the photographs with a white, dark background stand out from the crowd.
Let's have a look at the image of Lord Ganesha below.
    1619347096662.jpg

It's simple, I just made a lightbox to take such kind of photographs, known as
    SRD's Lightbox
    1619347125854.jpg
How did I make the Lightbox -
    1. Step-1
    1619347141602.jpg
    1619347153510.jpg
Was about to throw that package 📦. Thanks to @Leo X. for preventing the box to get recycled 😜.
    2. Step-2
    1619347173691.jpg
Measurement & cutting the sides of the box cube & removal of excess material.
    3. Step-3
    1619347189600.jpg
Applied gum and wrapped the cover with Black chart paper.
    4. Step-4
    1619347207602.jpg
Applied tracing paper from inside at both ends. ( One can directly use a light source without the tracing paper, but the spread of light is made even inside the box and a milky white color can be obtained by use of trace paper)
    5. Step-5
    1619347238122.jpg
Took a White color Chart paper and stuck it with the help of transparent tapes.
( You can take a Canvas paper, a black chart paper, or a glossy cloth for your choice of background)
Decorate as per your taste. Put the sources of light at both ends and adjust the brightness as per your requirement. ( You can make a hole on the top and put another light source/ take picture from the top for another angle)

    Hope you like it.

Thanks again @Leo X. for this great contest. I gave it all a good thought since the 21st of April, I finished it today and can't wait to share it with the community. It was a wonderful distraction, as we are in the middle of our quarataine period at home.

I've always had a soft spot for docking stations for electronics: my iPod has a docking station to play music via the AV receiver, the remote control is charged in a docking station and I've actually wanted to 3D print a docking station for quite some time now, for my OnePlus 6T. Since this competition is about 'community craft', I went to see which materials I can use to make a new docking station, I soon came up with the idea to make one for my OnePlus Buds. Some time ago I bought the Amazfit Zenbuds and they came in a very nice box, this had to be the basis of my project. In addition to this box, I used the following materials: color samples for window decoration, polystyrene foam, old USB-A cable, old USB-C cable, some tape and two small bolts for fixing the cable. I used the following tools: a drill, drill bits of various sizes, tape measure, glue, pencil and my own imagination. Enough background info, here's the result:

It was all so interesting my son couldn't resist not being in the picture with his beautiful Lego train.

    Hello, everyone!
I hope you and your family are keeping safe in these difficult times.

First of All, thank you @Leo X. and team for introducing such a fantastic contest. This one not only refreshed my mind but also, I was able to make a personalized gift for my mom 😊

    1. Jewelry Box
Recently, my parents had their marriage anniversary. Dad’s gift was already home, but due to the lockdown restrictions, Mom’s Gift was stalled. So, I made a Jewelry Box for her 😊

Among the many options of boxes,
    upload_2021-5-5_14-49-59.png

I started with this famous OnePlus Box (from my 8T’s delivery)
    upload_2021-5-5_14-50-6.png

The Box’s Flaps were cut and pasted inside the box after a few modifications for holding bangles. Then I used cardboard pieces and spare craft papers to make Stick for Bangles.

As it was a gift, I tried to decorate it a little.

Added an extra slab for the earrings and re-used a gift wrap and some decorative tape to cover it from the sides.

Finally, I added the Jewelries to it and showed it to my mom.

    2. Thread and Sew Box

Pretty much every household in India has a thread box. For this contest, I tried to recreate the same, but with a Twist: Using OnePlus Bottle Box!

Started with the iconic red OnePlus Bottle Box and one more cardboard box
    upload_2021-5-5_14-56-0.png upload_2021-5-5_14-55-57.png

Cut the bottle box from one side vertically and two sides horizontally to create a flap. Then covered these flaps with rough while papers and fixed them inside the bottle box using some tape.
    upload_2021-5-5_14-56-31.png upload_2021-5-5_14-56-35.png

This helped in making small compartments for various items. Finally, attached a button and woolen strap for opening and closing of the box. And, Done! (It was not that easy as it looks like, lol )

    upload_2021-5-5_14-58-16.png

The thread rolls, scissors, and buttons went into their dedicated places, and a lightweight thread box was ready 😊 :D

Thank you @Leo X. and OnePlus for introducing me to my younger creative self again. Working from home, staying indoors for soo long was taking a toll on me. Then I came across this post and I thought to myself this should be fun, Lets do it! And so, this past weekend I put on my creative hat, pulled out my colors and here’s what I made. I hope you guys like it

I had ordered OnePlus Flask few months back, the bottle’s helping me drink warm water (Covid precautions ). The packaging however was one plus one. The bottle came in 2 boxes as below –

    upload_2021-5-5_16-45-43.png

And my final result is –

    upload_2021-5-5_16-46-12.png

I love earings & jhumkis and have many. I made this stand for their easy access and it looks fab.

    upload_2021-5-5_16-46-59.png upload_2021-5-5_16-47-14.png

The outer box I used to arrange my socks, finding both socks of a pair can be tedious and we all know that :tongueclosed::tearsofjoy:

    upload_2021-5-5_16-48-42.png

I cut the flaps and arranged them inside the box

    upload_2021-5-5_16-49-3.png

I got a bit more creative for the sides. My inner child wanted to draw and paint so I let it have some fun..

    upload_2021-5-5_16-51-57.png

My nail paints also needed a cute box, so I decorated this box which came with OnePlus 8T mobile case –

Didn’t wanted to stop here, so went ahead with another idea: A Kaleidoscope!

    upload_2021-5-5_20-8-10.png upload_2021-5-5_20-8-28.png

    upload_2021-5-5_20-8-55.png

No no, this is not it, it’s just a Shuttle Holder Box. For those still wondering what a Kaleidoscope is, head over to this link.

First and foremost, I needed some reflective surfaces. Co-incidentally, there was some construction work in my house and I had saved some pieces from the left-over, from those made this: a hollow triangular prism-like structure

    upload_2021-5-5_20-9-48.png

    upload_2021-5-5_20-9-55.png

After arranging these in the required manner, I had to make a placeholder for this. Here, the box comes in:
    upload_2021-5-5_20-11-20.png

I cut the shuttle box in the appropriate size and attached a circular glass on one side. Then I had to borrow 2-3 bangles from Mom, and break it, like literally, hehe :p

    upload_2021-5-5_20-12-16.png

This is how it looked, after putting in the bangles on top on glass:
    upload_2021-5-5_20-12-22.png

Now the compartment was packed using some tape. From outside:
    upload_2021-5-5_20-12-35.png

Then came in this prism resembling structure and the whole package was closed with transparent tape on the viewing side

    upload_2021-5-5_21-6-11.png

    upload_2021-5-5_21-6-18.png

After a little bit of decor, it was completed:

    upload_2021-5-5_21-7-11.png

These were the results, see for yourself :D

    upload_2021-5-5_21-8-13.png

    upload_2021-5-5_21-8-22.png

Wanna see some satisfying videos? Here you go:
Fun Fact: The changes of a design repeating in a Kaleidoscope are negligible ;);)

Hi @Leo X. and the fellow members,
    hope you all doing well.

I've used the OnePlus cardboard box to make a geometric cardboard lamp.

Thanks a lot for the contest Leo!
While I'm not a very "crafty" kind of person, I'll see if I can come up with something;)
    And I like the prizes:rolleyes:

This is something that I'm good at. I've created many DIY's using boxes. However, this would be the first time I will be creating using OnePlus boxes. Also, is there a limit to the number of submissions?
