    Hi all,

I'm considering buying the Oneplus 6 when it's released. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The main reasons I have for moving away from Samsung are the software experience and the late software updates.
Now, my question is: how is Oneplus doing these days regarding software updates? I have heard some troubling stories, for example the Oneplus 2 nougat update debacle.
Is there still reason for concern these days? Or has Oneplus really improved in this respect?

    Greetings,

Oneplus is really good with software updates, I have a op5 and it still gets updates like bug fixes and similar but updates like a new os of android might take a while

I do not understand the endless hunger for updates. If the phone functions it functions....

Security updates I understand but the chance people are going to use all time and effort to hack your phone via an exploit is almost 0.

I am on the 5 and haven't had problems with updates. They are rolled out periodically (sometimes a bit slow). Support is a bit short I think but I'll still have to see how long the support will last on the 5. I believe the older 3 and 3t will get 8.1 soon. In my opinion as long as they keep supporting security updates it's fine

sorry to say but the s7 is a really bad phone for the price they are charging.
to top it up is the bloatware.
op6 will be very fast..no doubt abt tht.
I don't like bottom bezel bcos the op6 has a notch.

It's not that I have to have every android update as soon as possible. However, I would like to have the new features a new android version brings within a reasonable amount of time. Samsung has only released Oreo to the S8 last month. That is 8 months after Google released it.

basically if you get a OnePlus phone now you'll probably be updated for about 2 years the OnePlus 3 came out in 2016 with marshmallow (Android 6.0) and is now on Oreo (Android 8.0) so the 6 will probably get from Android 8 to android 10 whatever they call it

However having said that the openness of OnePlus means that your phone will be supported pretty much for forever because of all the official unofficial ROMs you can flash so don't worry about not being supported

I don't have any troubles with the software on my oneplus 5t. I don't think it needs a lot of updates beacause the software now is awesome.
