This isn't exactly the same question, but I'm unable to start a new thread for some reason and it is regarding contact imports.

Would you happen to know why when I try to import a .vcf it's creating the word "null" instead of skipping fields it doesn't recognize? And why it's also ignoring fields that I have explicitly mapped when doing the import (e.g., birthdays)?

I do believe you can open your .vcf file in a text editor and verify if it contains BDAY field (like this BDAY:1970-09-13). It its not present you can try to export with third party app like super backup. One question though when you say you mapped some fields explicitly do you mean you edited .vcf file in a text editor?

Thanks, I will try that to format the date field. When I say mapped fields, I mean when I did the import on the phone I seem to recall it giving me an option to map the fields unless I'm not remembering correctly. I'm going to try the export idea too.
