I set up my contacts yesterday and today the contact list is empty
check your google contacts in gmail, make sure it´s synced
Maybe you didn't have any contacts in the 1st place, the list is correct... but on a serious note, anybody?
It's my first android phone, but I expect contacts created locally on the phone to actually stay there and not disappear overnight
I don't use google much besides youtube so I don't have any contacts there, but I'll back them up to google from now on.
Just wondering if it was something I did wrong, like I said I'm new to Android.
But thanks for your incredibly helpful post, and welcome to my ignore list
just my patience... also, my contacts stay in all day
You're an idiot! I dont know if you have an invite or have the phone but I truly hope you never get it.
I think it's a hardware problem
You're a cool dude.
after importing my contacts as vcards from internal storage, several of them are vanished now.
Initially they were there completely, but after some minutes 68 from 181 contacts are remaining.
Whats the reason for this?
Any help out there?
Thkz & Grtz,
Moving to CM subforum.
Hmm, your best bet in terms of organizing your contacts would be to import the vCards into your Gmail account. From there, you can organize your contacts i.e. merge/remove duplicates, change contact pictures, link them to the contacts' respective Google+ accounts. Afterwards, just have your Google account manage your contacts from there.
@Dave: thanks for moving.
@crush: thanks for hint. I will try that now. *gnmpf* why easy, if it works complicated...
Yeah importing to Google is the easiest.
that way whenever you get a new android phone they are all loaded automatically.
finally i got my OnePlus One
there are two apps "phone" where u can dial numbers over the number block and contacts.
I export on my old Samsung Galaxy S2 my contacts as .VCF file, moved it on my Windows 7 PC and finally copy it on my phone storage.
After that i started my contacts app and import contacts from my storage.
It worked fine, all contacts shown up.
Then I installed WhatsApp and see in my group chats that only "numbers" join the chats.
Thought its a WhatsApp bug... but later when i try to call a friend over the phone app i tried to search for contatcs... nothing found.
Then i pressed "all contacts"... no contact shown up.
I can´t press "menu" button to change the view or something... its completly empty.
But when i go back to contacts app i see all contacts and also can call someone.
Over settings -> apps -> contacts storage and contacts i already deleted the data and reimport contacts.
After that i saw in WhatsApp the Names, but still have no contacts over the phone app.
Now i write this thread... and i get a WhatsApp message and see all names.. open a chat and watch a video... after that I closed the chat and return to WhatsApp standard view and just see numbers again.
Whats going on?!
I have NO CyanogenMod account, just a google and whatsapp account.
The google account is not allowed to sync anything. The WhatsApp account is allowed to sync.
Now i can import contacts from .VCF file again over phone menu.
This time i got contacts in contacts and phone.
Is this a clear solution or i blocked something wrong?!
Hopefully someone can help me,
I know this is an old thread but the same just happened to me.
Lost all contacts that were created as "phone only"!
happened to me the other day. Had to re-import from a backup csv file.
Don't have this problem. My contacts are synced with my google account.
Did you back up your contacts.
Use Gmail account and sync options
