    Bradon H , Dec 17, 2014 :

Here at OnePlus, we care deeply about giving our fans the best possible user experience, and we believe that an emphasis on openness and customization is a big, big part of that. That’s why we officially support rooting and flashing custom ROMs on the OnePlus One without affecting your warranty. It’s also why we test and release builds of alternative ROMs for use on the OnePlus One on our forums.

We know that the best choice for you is the one that you make for yourself, and that idea is at the core of everything we do. From the beginning, we’ve asked our fans to “Never Settle,” and we stand by that ideology. Now, it’s time to take it to the next level.

As you may have heard, we are developing our own custom ROM in-house — just one more option for those who refuse to compromise. We promise that it will be close to stock, bloat-free, and highly customizable; we wouldn’t ask you to settle for anything less. What you may not know, though, is that our first community build will be released soon. Much sooner than you likely expected.

We asked for your thoughts on the OnePlus One in the early days, and we changed our design and components based on your feedback. When we work together, great things happen. Because this ROM was built from the ground up just for you, we couldn’t imagine a better group of people to help begin its legacy. We will of course be asking for your technical input down the road, but for now, we ask for your help in giving our ROM something very special: a name.

Help us begin this journey by naming our ROM. Of course, we have some very special prizes to give in return.

    How to Enter:

Enter your proposed name for our ROM on this Google form. Please only enter one name per form submission. On December 31st, the OnePlus team will choose our favorite 10 suggestions. Each of the 10 finalists will receive a OnePlus Power Bank.

10 finalists will also be chosen from oneplus.cn. From the combined 20 finalists, 1 grand-prize winner will be chosen by the OnePlus team. Winner will be announced on January 11th, 2015.

This will become the official name of the OnePlus ROM. If a winning name is selected from these forums, the user who suggested the winning name will receive the following:
    • One (1) 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One

    • One (1) trip (round trip airfare and hotel) to Hong Kong to visit our headquarters in Shenzhen, where you’ll get to meet our team (along with our CEO, @Pete).

You can suggest as many names as you’d like, but you are only eligible to win ONE OnePlus Power Bank. If a winning name was proposed more than once, the user who suggested the name first will be selected as the winner. OnePlus reserves the right to not choose any of the proposed names from this contest.

Become part of OnePlus history by giving our ROM its namesake. We can't wait to hear what you come up with. Thank you being a member of the OnePlus family.

    Never Settle.

EDIT: Contest is over. Thank you for all the name ideas, we will have a lot of work going through over 75K names that you suggested! Winners will be announced on the 11th of January.

    EDIT 2:

    The first results are in!

We are so amazed and humbled by the response to this contest. We received roughly 75,000 entries, more than we could have ever imagined. And, the amount of creativity you guys brought to naming our ROM blew us away. We had a very difficult time narrowing the list down to 10, and some tough decisions had to be made.

Without further adieu, here are the 10 winning semi-finalist ROM name suggestions (in no particular order):

ROM name -- Forum Username -- Country -- Date Submitted

    Opus -- ahighfield -- Hong Kong -- 12/17/2014 17:12:27

    Nomad OS -- greatbubba -- Sweden -- 12/17/2014 17:19:32

    CosmOS -- Tuqano -- Italy -- 12/17/2014 19:13:09

    Muse -- redm -- USA -- 12/18/2014 9:17:06

    Karma -- coldcatt -- Canada -- 12/18/2014 10:17:19

    OnePlus ROM -- TakeMyMoney -- Netherlands -- 12/17/2014 16:31:23

    StratOS -- Deidara -- Mexico -- 12/18/2014 3:49:52

    Carbon -- Thijs -- Belgium -- 12/17/2014 18:08:32

    ElementOS -- Talon918 -- India -- 12/17/2014 23:38:11

    DaVinci -- martina.seno -- Italy -- 12/17/2014 21:04:23

Please keep in mind that many of these names were suggested more than once, by several people. In these cases, the person who suggested the name FIRST was selected as the winner of a OnePlus Power Bank. If you were listed as a winner in this thread, you will be contacted on Monday to claim your prize.

The grand prize winner will be announced next month. Unfortunately, there are some trademark/legal issues to consider before we can select an official ROM name, so it will take a bit of time. But, we’ll keep you updated.

Thanks again for your participation, and congratulations to the semifinalists!

Oneplus one for the win. Its sad that Micromax & Cyanogen complained & banned Oneplus One in India(cause cyanogen sold CyanogenOS' exclusive rights of India to Micromax). Be quick cause Micromax & Cyanogen are going to launch Micromax Yu tomorrow. But we all know that only idiots buy Micromax products.

Edit: They launched it & its piece of shit. Cyanogenmod must feel shame that their power OS is being wasted by Micromax *Yureka* :-/

Big Edit: Turns out it is just rebranded Coolpad F2 4G :p Not even change in design or specs :p Wow! After leaving OnePlus Cyanogen became more innovative than it ever was :p

Submitted EOS:) It can take many forms like eOS/E.OS/Eos/E-OS.

Means "dawn" in Greek. This was the name of the Greek goddess of the dawn. It can symbolise the new venture for OnePlus + it contains 'os' in it :D So it is both a code and a female name.
I really hope there won't be any legal problem with the VW EOS or Canon's cameras. It's a completely different thing after all.

EDIT: Too many problems with EOS. I also submitted ROMFEA. Ancient curved sword.
