    Famous at my place
    Kota , Rajasthan ( INDIA )

One of the most loved Indian snacks, Dal kachori is absolutely sensational.

Kachoris are deep fried breads made with ground dal sauteed along with spices and filled into a cover of maida and baking powder.

This is the most popular road side snack that you'll find across north India, specially parts of kota Rajasthan. Kachoris have a number of varieties.

KOTA kachori stores are opened in various cities of india.

    I literally said that!

Seriously though. My local chippy started doing this years and years ago when I was a youngster. At the time I had no idea that it was first made in Scotland as I live way south of that.

It shouldn't work, but it does, the Mars bar just staying the right side of sticky, but the crunch of the batter makes it a delicious treat. Honestly it's good.

I'm a man open to new experiences, I can give that a go before bashing it (more) :p

But can you actually eat it all or does it become nauseating before you can finish it?

Hi, I'm from Israel and I want to share with you a famous Jewish cuisine - Gefilte Fish. It is basically a fish ball made from chopped fish, traditionally served with a decorating slice of carrot and Horseradish dip.

So I was going to pay homage to the motherland and post the deep fried mars bar but @StopItRawr beat me to it.

So, from where I am from. You cannot beat a good fritter roll from the chippy. It needs to be smothered in salt and malt vinegar:

It's basically a think slice of potato, battered and deep fried. Served in a bap roll.

But where I am living at the moment, and because it's the start of the winter season, I will also add Fondue:

Bubbling, melted cheese and bread for dunking. Enough said.

Now I must go to the chippy tonight.

    Thanks!

Food snobs can lump it, because you can't beat a proper chippy tea.

That's somehow impressive - so if it's not deep fried, you can eat how many? All of them? o_O

Actually, it's very much like a vada pav but without the spice.
My dad used to put garam masala and fresh coriander on his fritters.

Let's just say the local shops sell 4 packs, and I have to ban myself from buying them because they'll get munched within 15 minutes.

I'm just glad I cycle an hour a day otherwise I'd be very badly off! I like my comfort food, and this thread isn't helping. the post YRJ made literally made me want to book a flight to get them.

Happy to see you went with something more health..

.. oh dear lord. Do you just deep fry everything over there?

Enough said? Are you sure you don't deep fry the whole thing after it's cooked? :D

I'm sure if you could, that would happen.

Look, Scotland isn't known for just deep frying everything.

    They also make Irn Bru.

    It's amazing.

I'm not Scottish, but I may as well be, food wise!
