Kindly use the search button before creating redundant threads.
Try clearing cache and data of the Google App. Also, try rebooting your phone. If it doesn't work, uninstall updates of the Google app and then try

This advice doesn't work, or at least only works for a short time. The Google app doesn't work with the current version of Oxygen OS for the 5 and 5T, and hasn't for a number of months.

Running perfectly fine on my Mom's OP5. So clearly, the problem isn't in Oxygen OS.

This isn't a fight. I'm trying to understand how someone who can't replicate a very common bug is able to suggest a fix for it. Considering how widespread it is, I don't think they are being honest with OP.

I am using the stable version of OxygenOS, which hasn't received a fix for this problem in over 3 months.

OP5 finished with the updates: EOL, it only has security updates and android 10 that is in beta

most problems are solved: clearing cache and app data
    the problem continues: factory reset
only update installed applications (do not install apps)
check that the phone works well
    install the applications you want

I have Op5 and I have no problems

I do not have my colleagues' phones with me. But my Mom's OP5 is in my hand right now. Google App working perfectly. We users can only suggest you ways of fixing the issue. And this fix does work for users more often than not. If it didn't work for you, no use in blaming me

The issue might be due to Google Play services not being updated

I have a OnePlus 6. It might not be a OnePlus 5, but Oxygen OS is similar. If an issue isn't occuring in every single device, that means there is some setting or app that may be causing the issue. Best thing to do: Reset the app from scratch. That is common fix anybody having used an Android phone for a while will suggest. The intention here was to help you fix the problem. So I don't see a point in you getting angry for no reason.

    You can review previous messages
I'm not saying they are wrong, it all depends on how you use the phone
finally if a factory reset does not solve the problem: You can do a clean install

    Hello guys,

just go to play store and uninstall the google app...it will move to version 11.8.9.21.arm64 .
    then it will work.
do not update it again for now.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. Can you confirm if this is a long term fix, or something that needs to be repeated regularly?

The other advice, to either clear the cache for the app or use a a previous version is only temporary, so a long term fix would be excellent.

How long has this fix worked for you?
