This update kills my battery. My phone barely makes 8 hours now on a full charge.

Can't agree with you, first because I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and after the update got a much better battery life from 5 SOT to 6.5 SOT, and a friend of mine has an s5 and he told me that he got better battery life also. And if oxygenos also has the same problem it might be the kernel that it is probably shared between both os. I've read that they rolled out the update (cm12.1s) due to many bugs.

I have cyanogen 12.1 as of late August/15 and have no problems with the battery.
I don't use my phone much as a few words can carry a lot of weight and I have better
things to do than join the zombie army at the mall, you know, slow walking, head down,
ear buds firmly implanted in ear canal, paying no attention to the overbred 150 lb dog
charging down the floor for a snack.

I agree with you, after using Android for 3 years now, I am so frustrated with the OS that I want to go back to iPhone.... this is shitty OS and the guys who make the hardware do not know how to optimize it.....this is cheap OS and cheap hardware....you get what you pay for

Having no problems since the update, in fact everything seems a lot quicker and sharper. Staying with CM, it does seem the update has had different effect to different phones could it be a problem with a certain batch of phones?

Agreed. I have the same problem. I also had between 6 & 7 hrs screen on time on cos 11. Such a shame. Am thinking of trying the nightlies as I here they are giving better results. A friend also has a nexus 4 3 years old, and never had a problem with his battery until he updated to lollipop, now his phone is practically useless. He bought a brand new battery and it made no difference.

Do you work for CM? Just curious as neither of your posts have been logical.

I'm getting wakelocks again since installing the update. This is becoming a bad joke. Over 2 days my biggest battery users are Android OS, Chrome and my podcast app. Screen comes in at half those.
