I think he emailed me as well about this issue. He said I could report it but I already returned my phone

I could be wrong, but I don’t think software can fix this. I think it may be a display defect. It’d be awesome if it is software related because then it could be fixed easier

How did you take the photo? I have the EXACT problem, I noticed it yesterday, it doesn't disappear in other backgrounds, dunno if it's a burn-in or whatever, but this shouldn't happen in A 1OO9€ phone.

Not seen any confirmation of any newer devices not having an issue yet.

Set the display to low brightness and ofc be in a dark room.generally our eyes can see more than a camera but turn on like night mode in your camera , and take a photo of the screen

I used chrome dark theme as gray colours also show this issue even clearer..

seems like a panel defect or limitation

I guess my old j5 2016 is just too bad for that, But I have this issue, I sent my phone today for replacement, hopefully will get one without issues.

New phones have this out of the box, this is no burn in. I think all have it.
I guess most people will never see this because it only is visible in very low to zero brightness.

I was thinking something along the lines of that. It’s a very good guess. Honestly since it’s on nearly every device I hope it’s software related

All of you that do have the dark band across the top of the display, have you noticed any difference in it after the 10.5.6 update? Is it any better? Any worse?

For me is better but after 5.5 dc on is worse than dc off, i mean, i think they are calibrating at the same time, phones without issues now they have and the opposite, phones with issue are better. sooo with a future update it will be okey

DC On makes it worse, overall DC dimming on causes image degredation on lower brightness.
Gray colours are just aweful. Becoming more towards black with reddish undertone somehow.

    firmware: 10.5.8.IN11BA
    Same brightness.
