Day 5: Speed in all its forms

We often talk about speed – the OS, charging, high refresh rate, 5G. Well, the OnePlus 8 Series has it all. This was also a set of devices filled with many firsts: It was our first full 5G lineup, our first 120 Hz display, and it was also the first time we extended our Warp Charge technology to wireless charging, on the 8 Pro.

But what captured my attention on this device was something else entirely: one of its CMF (Color, Material, Finish).

I've always been a sucker for frosted glass finish, with its not-metal-but-kinda-feels-like-it vibe, so you'd think my preference would go to the Glacial Green or Ultramarine Blue finishes. While those two are beautiful in their own way, but one other finish was the one that caught my eye: Interstellar Glow.

There was just something about its many colors that made this finish one of my all-time favorites. While I eventually turned to the OnePlus 8 Pro for its better specs, I always thought 'what if...'.

CMFs are always something I look forward to with each release. The colors, the materials, the finish, all combined for an experience that is the sum of its parts. There have been many different ones across the years. So, I ask, what's your all-time favorite CMF? Pick a winner and tell us why!

Metal being the alu colour or gun metal like OP3. No transition lines on the side, frameless sturdy and an excellent feel.

Glass is probably one of my less favourite, glass is good to use for a window to look through, or in the form of a cup to drink from not meant for a phone. Then again, we don't have a real choice nowadays.

OnePlus 9 Pro Morning Mist.

It's got a really good looking finish. Very glossy, highly reflective! I dig it's gradient look from top to bottom.

There are OnePlus devices that are instantly recognizable – and the OnePlus 7T is definitely one of them. The centered, round camera was a clear departure from OnePlus 7 Series more understand camera module design. The result is one of, if not the most unmistakable OnePlus smartphone to date.

I had the Midnight Black 6T and really loved way it reflected sunlight. But the one I wanted (but couldn't) was Thunder Purple. Amazing hue accompanied by a super cool name. Just love the sound of it.

My CMF? The Interstelar Glow, of course! For two main reasons:
1- It takes the name from one of my favourite movies by the great C. Nolan
2- the idea to "change" colour by inclination and lights-game is insane! That smartphone shall be handled without case just to fall in love everytime you see it!

My all time winner here is:
The OnePlus 2! Sandstone back or whatever I liked,easily interchangable. All that newer phones with slippery ,cracky glass backs are just... Horrible. Looking nice,yeah,but totally unusable for people who don't just sit lazy in an office,but work with hands,brains and hearts- people who really work,have dirty,sweaty ,oily fingers where such glass or metal phones slip through like wet soap. Sandstone was outstanding, metal and glass are just.. boring . Nowadays 99% of users buy some case ,just to prevent an expensive accident,where sandstone made a case redundant. Looking at the design,the OP2 still looks good for me,too. Haptic was great, give me actual hardware and software in the OP2 case and take my money.
