    Hi friends,

A little over a week ago, I shared the first official renders of our stunning OnePlus 10 Pro finishes – Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest. Today, let's talk about the cameras that are housed behind that striking, ceramic-built lens cover.

Last year, we introduced the first Hasselblad Camera for Mobile on the OnePlus 9 series. Our goal was to bring Hasselblad’s eight decade plus lineage of camera expertise to more people than ever before. By combining Hasselblad’s expertise in traditional photography and our learnings in software algorithms and processing, we were able to extend that superior Hasselblad camera experience to all of you, while holding the OnePlus 9 series.

Over the course of the last year, we continued our work with Hasselblad to improve and refine the camera systems on both devices. As many of you are aware, back in September we introduced the exclusive XPan Mode on the OnePlus 9 series, allowing you to capture in the same 65:24 aspect ratio as the original Hasselblad XPan camera. With XPan Mode on the OnePlus 9 series, we transferred yet another element of the classic Hasselblad experience to mobile, allowing an entirely new audience to take compelling and timeless visual stories.

With the OnePlus 10 Pro, we have continued to develop our partnership with Hasselblad to deliver more breakthroughs in mobile photography. And that all starts with OnePlus Billion Color Solution.

    OnePlus Billion Color Solution
OnePlus Billion Color Solution allows Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad on the OnePlus 10 Pro to be applied to over one billion colors. That means the OnePlus 10 Pro’s three rear cameras – the primary, telephoto, and ultra-wide – shoot in full 10-bit color. As a result, the OnePlus 10 Pro captures images with a 25% increase in DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and processes 64 times more color than the traditional smartphone, at 8-bit color. OnePlus Billion Color Solution means color banding is basically non-existent in every photo taken. So, if you’re capturing a photo full of bright colors and color transitions, such as a sunset, you’ll click an image that’s far more true to life.

In addition to giving the OnePlus 10 Pro support to capture in 10-bit color, we also optimized color tuning in over 500 specific scenarios – ranging from portraits to photos of graffiti, and even photos of brightly colored buildings.

Pro Mode (RAW mode and RAW+)
Hasselblad Pro Mode has been taken to the next level on the OnePlus 10 Pro. Firstly, Pro Mode on the OnePlus 10 Pro is supported on all three of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s rear cameras – the primary, telephoto, and ultra-wide camera – allowing each to take photos in up to 12-bit RAW complete with Hasselblad Natural Color Solution. Here's a photo that was taken with Hasselblad Pro Mode on the OnePlus 10 Pro and the edit.

(RAW to the left, edit to the right)

Hasselblad Pro Mode on the OnePlus 10 Pro also supports a new RAW mode we’re calling RAW+. RAW+ is an empowered RAW mode that allows you to shoot in enhanced 12-bit RAW while retaining all computational photography elements from the OnePlus 10 Pro. RAW+ gives users all the benefits of taking a photo in RAW – more information, highest quality files, and greater levels of brightness to name a few – with all the benefits of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s computational photography – like greater dynamic range and noise reduction.

RAW+ gives all of you who love to edit their photo after the fact the greatest amount of flexibility when doing so – whether you’re using a third-party photo editor or the one available in the OnePlus Gallery app. In short, it lets you take your photos to the next level.

    Movie Mode video capture
The OnePlus 10 Pro also supports Movie Mode for video capture, giving you control over ISO, shutter speed, and white balance in your video before and during filming – your footage will look exactly like you want it to.

    MovieMode_UI .jpg

Movie Mode also allows you to record in a LOG format, providing videographers with true creative freedom when editing their video. For the uninitiated, LOG footage is flat footage without a pre-set picture profile that provides a blank canvas for videographers to adapt however they’d like. LOG footage also has more detail than standard footage in areas like shadows and highlights, resulting in greater dynamic range.

    A new ultra-wide camera
The OnePlus 10 Pro also widens your perspective, quite literally. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s ultra-wide camera offers a 150° field of view – that’s up to four times wider than traditional ultra-wide cameras. The additional field of view offered by the OnePlus 10 Pro allows you to not only more capture more in a single shot, but also incites endless amounts of creativity.

The 150° field of view on the OnePlus 10 Pro’s ultra-wide camera also unleashed our own creativity – on a software level. The OnePlus 10 Pro now features a dedicated Fisheye Mode that allows you to capture the world around you from an even more unique perspective.

You can also opt for a more traditional 110° field of view, complete with AI distortion correction that reduces distortion at the edges of your shots. Both the OnePlus 10 Pro’s 150° field of view and Fisheye mode are accessible via a dedicated tab within the camera app.

We truly believe the OnePlus 10 Pro’s ultra-wide camera, along with its primary and telephoto cameras, delivers the most versatile photography experience ever on a OnePlus device, and we can’t wait for you to try it out later in 2022.

The 2nd generation Hasselblad camera sounds great, I hope the difference is also visible in photos.

Glad there are no 2MP and 5MP sensors anymore. Now looking forward to a side by side comparison with the 9Pro to see exactly how much it has improved in comparison to first gen HB cameras.

Wonder why the 9Pro changed it to expert mode.

The PRO camera is packed up with a ton load of features and its always a pleasure to hear the phones getting better in the photo and videography departments.

The OnePlus 9 pro cameras were great after the post-launch updates and fine tuning with the Hasselblad processing and RAW support. The OnePlus 9 pro was clearly becoming a reliable camera. But unfortunately this only lasted until the new OOS 12 update and later the camera processing took a major hit.

I think @Antonio_Luis would agree with this.

Hoping the same won't happen with the 10 pro.

Thank you for the deep dive @Pete :)
But as always: specs and the written experience aren’t that important - the user experience and feedback do matter.

Thank you Pete, and the OnePlus team, for another enhancement. The new options will give us photographers a wide range of opportunities. And, tho I personal do not love fisheye pictures so much, I'm sure, the squirrels will look good :)

I'm very curious to test the new video options. Looking forward to the op10Pro,

Fantastic with the 12-bit RAW and new video mode, it will be a great phone indeed!

I do hope the "software improvements and color improvements" will find it's way to the little brother 9 Pro!;)
