What's the deal with this? toggling it in doesn't seem to do anything.

I was just about to post this. I think it should enable you to have hotspot and wifi enabled at the same time. But it does not work for me either.

When you enable this option, connect to a WiFi network, go to the network settings, click the gear icon next to your connected WiFi network then click the pen on the top, drop down 'advanced options' and click 'extend wifi coverage'.
Now your phone acts as a WiFi extender.
Haven't used it much but I would suspect this to have an impact on battery usage...

with this setting once you have enabled the desired network to be extended do you have to turn the hotspot on for it to work. because when i turn on my hotspot the wifi automatically turns off

    Hi,

So I understand this merely functions as a WiFi repeater, not a true hotspot with its own security protocols and name/password, correct?

Are there any plans to allow for wifi >> phone >> hotspot >> other device sharing? This is a feature of Samsung devices, for instance, and has been of immense use to me in the past while traveling for an extra layer of security and convenience (no entering passwords multiple times for multiple phones and laptops with for the family).
