KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , May 31, 2021 : How to do video call from phone app? Without using any third party app.
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Stellar Black , May 31, 2021 : Personally I don't remember what year I had a phone and carrier combo that supported it. This can depend on both phone and carrier support. I'll ask around to see if someone knows if the phone itself supports it.
KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , May 31, 2021 : In India it's work with Jio carrier and that too with Google Duo only. What if there is no Google Duo with another person and I don't want to use Google account for calls.
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Stellar Black , May 31, 2021 : When where you able use native video calling the last time?
KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , May 31, 2021 : Before 2 days i have Samsung Mobile in that I can direct video call through any carrier with using any third party app.
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Stellar Black , May 31, 2021 : Ah. Then you must be talking about a different type of video call that what I thought you were refering to? (native video calls via mobile network that is not counted into you mobile data usage, that was the one I referred to). You are still free to use any video calling app as you like. Duo is just the default one. Inside all your contacts that is available in Telegram, WhatsApp and more, supported apps would be listed directly inside the phone app. Not listed apps would require the use of the app to make the call.
KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , May 31, 2021 : I got it. I am talking about video call from direct Phone app Why it's not possible? Why this option not available? Other phone do have. Why should I need to use another app for video phone.
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Stellar Black , May 31, 2021 : So you are talking about WITHOUT any 3rd party app? I thought you wrote "with any 3rd party" but I guess you mean "without any 3rd party". Even Samsung seems drop support for it. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...eo-calling-missing-in-Android-11/td-p/1624721 https://telecomtalk.info/who-killed-native-video-calling/154794/
Deactivated User , via OnePlus 7T Pro 5G , May 31, 2021 : I always have to go to contacts once before having to video call, so never have seen an option to video call directly from the phone app ?
S1622131485137 , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Pl disable Duo in App & you can do direct video call in Jio net work in India.
Akshat Sehgal , via OnePlus Community App , Jun 1, 2021 : The option should be there in the app itself. Can you share a screenshot of the options you get in the app? Just checked on a Samsung running the latest OneUI 3.1 (Android 11 basically) and it has that option.
S1622131485137 , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Setting - Apps & notification - see all apps - Duo , there force stop, then you can do direct video call from the contacts without internet.
KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Please could you share this process screen shot. It's not working.
KKRATHOD , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Refer Akash's reply The option should be there in the phone app itself. Just checked on a Samsung running the latest OneUI 3.1 (Android 11 basically) and it has that option. --+++ I have also checked recently launched Samsung s21 series, and lower series also have options of direct video call over any carrier.
kartikeagarwal , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Thank you so much, I was regretting buying this phone as I thought it lacked support of native video calling, Tried disabling duo app, now I'm able to do video calls on jio network.
kartikeagarwal , via OnePlus 9 Pro , Jun 1, 2021 : Hi, It actually worked for me on jio network. Do remember to call jio to jio, as cross network calling is not supported by networks. Just long press duo app, then app info, click on disable. After that just go to contact and click video call.(won't be able to do by manually dialing a number)
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Stellar Black , Jun 1, 2021 : Great that someone could find a solution for your problem. Thought it had died out completely but some carriers apparently still supports it.
vinodshrmaa , Dec 2, 2021 : Even OnePlus 6T has this option. But OnePlus 9 does not has this option. But here is a catch, you can disable Duo app to make direct native call.
Swejuggalo , via OnePlus 9 Pro Morning Mist , Dec 2, 2021 : Yes. Things has changed. This has come to be less and less common. Many carriers don't even support it anymore. Some support it but don't really mention it anywhere. So it's kind of phasing out. Only highly limited data plans that kind of slows it down.
