10000 nits? Do you need a lead lined suit for the radiation?

So it seems that the issue was with the display setting being on Natural...I switched to AMOLED Wide Colour Gamut and it now plays in HDR...

Screenshots are taken in SDR so I can't show the sky varying gradiant from my previous example, but here is Jason Statham's face with details on shadows...

How can you be sure that Plex isn't doing a re-encode, like to drop from 4K to 1440p and losing the HDR during the process?

Copy the file to the phone and play with VLC

    mattyelle1, May 28, 2019 :
That screenshot doesn't do it justice because in SDR...it lost details compared to HDR10.

How do we report this to OnePlus? The screen should automatically switch to AMOLED Wide Gamut when playing HDR videos...

I would use DCI-P3. Amoled wide will be oversaturated. It's the max the phone will do

Ok. How do we report this to OP staff? The display should switch to DCI-P3 or AMOLED Wide Gamut automatically when playing HDR...

NOOOO .... it switches if an ICC profile is detected. If your recording lost that, it can't switch. Most likely the issue is how the file is encoded on your server.

And Amoled wide isn't any standard. [e]1f603[/e]

It switches fine on all my content. Where did you get yours?

Ya I know...but are you sure AMOLED Wide Gamut isn't just what OP calls rec.2020? I mean the OP 7 Pro fills DCI-P3 colour space and spills into rec.2020

Torrent. It's a 20Mbps bitrate file ripped in HDR10 by a reliable transcoder...it's probably the best HDR file I've viewed on my x900f since it's full of dark scenes with bright LED lights.

    http://www.displaymate.com/OnePlus_7Pro_ShootOut_1P.htm

At 111% of DCI-P3 it's not quite rec.2020, its just the panel's natural color without correction. Its detailed in the link

Night mode will turn off your color profile switching. DC Dimming may affect color when brightness is dim

    elanglois, May 28, 2019 :
So .. some bootleg illegal copy ripped by ʾsome guy'. I'd not trust that the file was standards compliant, but in this case, I'd say put it back to Natural with Night Mode off and DC Dimming off and see how it goes

Like I said, it plays back great on my x900f...so it's not the file. yes I'm testing

The wonderful thinf about standards is no one complies to it 100%. The behavior when violated will vary from device to device. You never know whats going on without looking at the bits

No display in 2019 fills rec.2020....its the holy grail. According to DisplayMate testing it spills out 11% out of DCI-P3 and into rec.2020. The only way to viewcthec11% extra colours on OP 7 Pro would be to watch in rec.2020. I'm 99% sure that's AMOLED Wide Gamut.

    elanglois, May 28, 2019 :
Well yes. But unless you have content for rec.2020, you will just be oversaturating your content by 11% Seems kinda pointless
