Do AKG K451 work with the OnePlus One?

    londonappdev , Apr 17, 2015 :
    Hello,

I am thinking of getting some over-ear headphones that I will use heavily with my OnePlus One.

Has anyone tried the "AKG K451" headphones to confirm they work full (with the mic/controls etc...)

EDIT: Thank you @Creker94 for alluding me to the fact that Sennheiser and AKG are different brands. I mean only AKG.

I have no experience with them but why do you want on-ear headphones vs. over-ear headponhes?

    Just curious.

Do you mean why do I want over-ear instead of in-ear?

If so, its because I bought the official OnePlus One JBL in ear ones and when I am walking they fall out every minute and it irritates my ear having to keep pushing them back in. I also tried the Xiami Pistons that everyone raves about but have the same problem there. The only in ear ones that work well for me are the Apples ones but the Mic doesn't work with the OnePlus One.

So I want to try over ear as I think they will be more comfortable and I don't need to worry about them falling out.

I have the same problem...I like the Apple earpods because of how they fit.
I hate the squishy in ear headphones.
That said I have a pair of momentum I'm using the official m2 cord (momentum comes with iOS) the Mic works and volume, have a bit of issue with the center button...although that could be faulty cord.

Over all you should be able to use the basic functions (mic/col), not sure about the extra like hold for Google now etc..
    That's my experience

all wired and Bluetooth headsets will work with the oneplus one.

its JUST an android phone.. there's nothing magical about it.. so if a device works on any other android phone in the world it will work with the oneplus one.. why wouldn't it??

you don't buy a relatively unknown car and then ask what petrol you can put in it.. its still a car..

Most headphone mics don't seem to work with OPO. Controls work on OPO headphones and Xiaomi Piston and maybe a few more. But you certainly can't buy any pair of headphones and except them to be fully functional

Your answer was not very helpful

We know bluetooth will work but not ALL wired headsets will.

Apparently You don't know much about headphone standards or your post would have been helpful and not a douche bag telling us we are all stupid for asking

Ok I looked up the AKG K451 and they are ON-ear not OVER-ear, so that is why I asked the question. If you were talking about some Sennheisers then I guess we were just not on the same page :)

Ooops, for some reason I thought they were the same brand o_O. I mean AKG. (Sorry, I am not an audio expert)

Oh I see. I didn't realize there was a difference but I see it now. I don't have a preference really, but I guess over-ear would be more comfortable.

Take a look at those, unbeatable deal for the price. I can confirm the microphone and volume adjustment works (its a gain slider, doesn't affect the volume on the phone but still serves its purpose).

all wired headphones will work.. 100% they'll play music.. its impossible for them not to.. weather the volume rocker works.. well who cares.. the phones got a built in volume control and all apps have them too..

its the design of the headphones pin order that causes it to work or not. chances are they're all designed for Apple.. but again are you really that lazy to place your hand I your pocket and click the volume up or down?? I mean you have to reach up and find the in line control regardless..

you buy headphones for the music lol not for the online controls.
there's 2 ways to change the volume on the phone alone. and all mics should work there's a standardised pin setup for them.

if you're interested it's normally the 1st and 3rd notch on the Jack. first being mic + and 3rd being -
even swapping the + and - wouldn't really have an effect.

lol. Yes I am really that lazy to expect that the Mic and controls will work on a pair of headphones I splash out on.... OnePlus One's slogan is "NEVER SETTLE", not "SETTLE FOR BUILT IN AUDIO CONTROLS IF HEADPHONE ONES DON'T WORK"... Whatever I buy, I want it to work which is why I am asking in the forums.
