Do not disturb not working via OnePlus Community App

  1. georox123 , via OnePlus Community App , Aug 2, 2021 :
I cannot get do not disturb to work on my Nord 2. I've been through every setting multiple times and nothing works. Notifications still make sounds.

Anyone having the same problem? I'm getting close to factory defaulting the phone to see if that fixes it.

As an aside, I've also had problems with no notifications showing in the status bar. I'm having to go through each app one at a time and edit the notification setting to show on status bar. That doesn't seem right either.

Having the same issue on the OnePlus Nord 2. Google hangouts messages, as well as Gmail emails are still making sound notifications when do not disturb is turned on. Super annoying!

Is there no simpler way to share logs? The method outlined for log generation is too complex, I can't find the logs generated.
This is becoming annoying, buying such an expensive phone and then finding out that such basic features don't work.

    Same issue

I don't understand why One+ ask us for logs and reports when is a general bug they can reproduce in any terminal unit

Your options are to return it before the deadline for it passes or to make an act of faith to see if they fix it, because so far all they have done is ask for data that they can get themselves from any terminal because it affects everyone.

But taking into account that so far I have not seen anywhere that officially admit that the bug exists, I think I will opt for the return, both because a failure like this in a terminal is not normal and because the response of its service support seems very bad

If anyone stumbles upon this thread I managed to fix this using ADB.
So first you need to enable USB debugging, install android tools on your PC, there's guides for that.

Then once you've got adb up and running, issue the following command:

    adb shell service call audio 10 i32 5 i32 0

the 10 should correspond to setStreamVolume function, first parameter (5) corresponds to STREAM_NOTIFICATION and the final parameter (0) corresponds to volume you want to set.

This way you can keep your slider down (so calls should still ring if you have it set up that way) and notifications don't make any sounds! (I tested this with messenger)

This probably isn't ideal for people who only turn DND on evey now and then, but for people like me who have DND on permanently it's an alright solution :D
