K.I.S.S, ask them if they like Chinese food. If yes, then they will like OPO.

I think a lot of people think most companies/phones from China are knockoffs of other popular phones, just cheaply made. They just don't know is all

My answer is yes. Most people I know only know the mainstream phones. Literally no one ever heard of OPO when I told them what my phone was except 1 person.

Plus, I've only ever seen one other OPO in the wild.

Many are made in China, but usually people stay away from weird Chinese companies (Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo, THL, ZTE) cause they usually have a link to lower-end smartphones, most manufacturers do, but for Chinese manufacturers it works against them especially when it comes to developing a brand image outside of the Asian continent.

OnePlus is probably one of the first tech companies to have such a big mark internationally. They're also one of the few that know/ or hire people that know how to read and write english without using a translator.

I think people view it slightly differently. They don't see iphones as produced in in China, just built there using cheap labour. The design of the software, and most likely the hardware is undertaken in the US and possibly parts of Europe.

On the other hand, the Opo is most likely a complete package from China, minus the OS from the US. There is a mis-trust of China, due to the excessive censorship and tendency to try and build back doors into things. Ironically this is now also true of certain sections of the USA, but I'm guessing it is a better the devil you know for a lot of people. In this case, they most likely trust the USA slightly more than China still.

It depends. I felt the say way until I saw the OnePlus' philosophy, their mission and vision. I actually admire the fact that they are not about making $$$$. They are deeply into quality, which in turn creates loyalty. How many other mobile phone company are there with forums as active as OnePlus'? I believe, none!

To be honest.. The cheaper phones and products in China.. Which used to fail dramatically led to an impression of China produced products to be non reliable.. But with all big brands having made in China logo somewhere on their product is disapproving the image I talked about..
If Oneplus would have been headquarter anywhere else, with production from China, then most people, who get introduced to the name OnePlus, would have perceived Oneplus differently
