I've run Macintosh computers since the eighties and stopped using them when they slide it out there technology to maximize profit by selling consumer level crap. When I still worked in video and telecom you would buy a Mac for a few thousand dollars and it would remain on top of the industry for several years now they have planned obsolescence and really hokey operating systems that are nothing like the UNIX crunching madness we experience while others were still stuck on Windows trying to figure out how to edit video or fix photo. My first personal Mac was a PowerBook 170 the first Apple I touched was a 2g. Apple now sucks balls.

Got a 4yr old MacBook Pro that i Recently used to edited a feature film shot in 4k RAW on the RED one. Now i'm not gonna lie, it did sweat quite a bit doing it but i got there in the end and considering it was 4K RAW i thought that was pretty dam kool. Put an SSD in it a few weeks ago and boy did that give it a boost. Feels brand new again.

Also, i agree with the guys who wouldnt touch the iphone. Had the use of one for a few weeks recently when my Razr I was out of commission and i went back to my tiny old HTC Wildfire after about a week instead. Not my cup of tea at all.

Oh, really? Can it run, say, ProE, solidworks, A transparent chrome (no theming) and Notepad++? No.

I think MAC is a wonderful device, but the lack of popularity is a big negative point that should be taken into considerations

Each to his own but if your not running some flavour of Linux there's not much one can do to help you.

I have the macbook pro 9,2:
    Intel i5 2.5ghz 3210m
    Intel HD 4000
    8gb ddr3 ram (upgraded)

buttery smooth - not even. wanna see buttery smooth? install windows 8.1 for 15 second boot time versus the mac over 5 minutes boot, then an extra 5 minutes before it is usable. Apps linger when launching and many hangs in apps like opening new chrome tabs, or closing a bunch at once. gaming is minimal since there are no games for it and the gpu sucks massive balls. on the windows side the most intensive game i can run is cod black ops 2 minimum settings holding 60fps.

    now i got my new computer: gtx760 gpu, amd fx-6300 cpu, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz
this is what i've been missing all these years. os is snappy and responsive, no hangs, quick booting even since i dont have an ssd yet

games are amazing - bf3 and 4 look stunning, also tried bioshock infinite amazing too all above 60fps usually(of course the gpu is probably bigger than the whole macbook pro itself...not to mention it costs around 250-300$)

Have you received your OPO yet? I would be interested in finding out if you are aware of any programs that will make downloading the information from the OPO to the Macbook Pro easy. I have the latest Macbook Pro and I am not incredibly computer saavy, so any help you can provide will be incredibly helpful and appreciated.
    Thanks.
