Do you remember when Google+ was new? Was the big deal in the social media, the new Facebook, but darn it, not everyone can get it, you need an invite, you HAVE to get an invite, you MUST HAVE IT.

Well, you got it. You got the invite...

Years later, Oneplus One, the next big phone, must have, but darn it, not everyone can get it, you need an invite, you HAVE to get an invite, you MUST HAVE IT.

Yeah; it was actually the first thing I thought about when finding out that the OPO was invite-only.

Well, there are some similarities between the 2 stories, but the differences are much bigger.

Well, I prefer to associate the 1+1 to the first gmail. At that time you really wanted an invite for a gmail account! G+'s launch is not comparable at all in my opinion.

The only difference is that when got the invite on google+ it was free to make a account, if you get an invitation for the OPO you still need to pay a minimum of 299$.

I don't think that this comparison is valid. Yes, Google+ did f**k up and may be due to the invitation system, but OPO is a completely different type of product and does stimulate different cravings for the customers, compared to social platforms.
