Can you connect the OnePlus One via OTG cable to a smart TV Usb port?

Yeah, actually it is, because who wants to tether their phone to their TV...that's rather idiotic

When you want a pocket console and want to use a controller to play games.

but yeah, try to play with screencast. The latency will probably not be a problem for you.

I want to connect the OP2 to a HDMI LCD projector, if I get a USB-C to HDMI convertor / cable, will that work with a projector?

    b. Does anyone have an apple USB-C to VGA convertor? Will that allow the OP2 to connect to a projector?

It's helpful when you need to watch offline videos on your TV from your phone

I plugged my my MHL to HDMI adapter into the phone and got nothing. It worked my Samsung Galaxy Note and all of the phones listed here:

"Why would you do that?" Ask the owners of these many other phones. For me, I bought the adapter and used it very little.

Chromecast is an independent device it Does NOT do the same job as a simple cable connection. It is totally reliant on having a good WiFi connection. I live on a boat, well off the grid with no WiFi and only the occasional mobile signal. Chromecast is no use at all!! Not even for ballast!! When you operate in more challenging parts of the world you begin to appreciate simplicity and reliability and built in redundancy. (If one system fails, you always have another) useful to remember guys we are not all geeky city dweller's.. A HDMI connection would make this device nearly perfect for my needs.

Chromecast would be so much more convenient. Completely wireless so no need to be physically tethered to the TV.

No, most phones doesn't support HDMI Out(YET), but you can connect your phone to your pc/laptop, and then HDMI connect your pc and tv. But as mentioned from many users here both Miracast and Cromecast / Airplay is the future, but I find Cromecast the best, Cromecast require Android/IOS and a local Wifi signal, whereas Miracast supports any wifi compatible items / connections (it makes its own Wifi connection, so it doesn't need a local signal) And Miracast is very power hungry and your phone MUST stay awake while streaming. You can DL apps for both to setup/control them from your PC. iOS/Mac requirer their own solution which is Airplay.

The problem with. Chromecast is you can't connect to hotel wifi. So in lieu of a cable now you have to carry a chromecast and a router. I'd rather have MHL.
