Do you have high enough quality headphones to hear the difference?

Literally anything else that aren't airpods.

Besides that - Bluetooth headphones aren't high quality and aren't really necessary to "hear dolby atmos".

Go to the sound and vibration setting of the phone, and then scroll down to "sound enhancement", tap on that and enable dolby atmos.

Try with any good wired headset, mostly Bluetooth headsets won't recognise the Dolby Atmos sound, if you still can't hear the Dolby Chech whether you have turned on mono audio in settings.

So that would be the problem, sorry I forgot to mention this in my first post, mono audio should be turned off if it is turned on then you can't experience the Dolby Atmos surround sound, you have to turn it off, so turn it off and check.

Welcome bro, always here to help you, and pls do remember that the Dolby Atmos surround sound works great when wired headset is connected, some of the wireless headset may not get that actual sound of Dolby Atmos.

The problem with Apple Airpods is that you are not using an Apple phone.. Apple has created the special chipset in the Airpods to provide the best AAC codec experience with their iOS operating sytsem. As for Android, and any OS based on the Android Open Source is that AAC is subpar. Simply put, SBC, the baseline codec in all Bluetooth headphones are better than AAC from the Android platform. If possible, a Bluetooth headphone that supports Aptx (or even Aptx HD, but no true wireless model has the Aptx HD yet) will yield a much better experience.

Yeah, Airpods will "work" with Android, but not as good as non-Apple and non-Beats (owned by Apple as well). Don't expect Aptx support from Apple's headphones for some time as the iPhones are not able to support this codec. Interestingly their current Mac workstations and laptops do. That might change now that Apple has settled the lawsuits with Qualcomm (who is the owner of the Aptx series of codecs) for their eventual 5G phones. Their current chipset providers for the modem portion of the phone just cannot do 5G, likely the reason Apple settled as they'll need Qualcomm to have a 5G phone before 2021.
