I dropped it twice in 2 days around the new year, bare body no protection case and the pre applied plastic screen protector only, didn't get one scratch on the back and just a little air bubble and a small scratch on the screen guard is all what happened, guess I was luckier

I think it's the cost of bezelless phones that we have to pay nowadays. Fancy look, nice big screen don't come without giving something back, which is a resistance from drops. Sorry guys :)
However I do not even want to think of dropping S8 or IPX...that would be even more painfull :)

the sandstone case is not fit for drops, is to hard for that , is just for design

No it did not pop out, the corner of the case was slightly scuffed also, I guess the pressure of the fall was too much for the screen to handle

Anyway, how are you planning on fixing this phone?
If you paid in full using a credit card (USA), and if it is less than 90-day or 120-day. try contacting your credit card and check for 90-day (120-day some cards) purchase protection policy..!
    You're welcome.

Going to be perfectly honest, it's not the protector 9 times out of 10 when it comes to screens breaking with a protector and case on. It tends to be more related to the surface it was dropped on or the angle in which it hit a given surface. You can have just about anything on it and hit at the wrong angle or wrong surface and have a crack. The best protection will always be a full bumper case though (no open areas, covered all the way around) and a protector. But even then, it can happen.

Tempered glass screen protectors are NOT designed to protect against drops. They are an alternative to plastic screen protectors, and won't get scratches as easily.

I was impressed with what Honor did with the 7x, if OnePlus can add that type of drop protection to save the screen, it'd save consumers from having these issues.

That's really sad mate, brand new with those hairlines...

i think the protective case from OP do not protect the phone.. just add the grip (a 0.5 mm hard plastic can't do it). even the case that comes with the phone seems to be better in protection.
the silicon and the bumper case are the real deal in protection.
a drop like this, the tempered glass won't help either I think.

    I agree.

The oneplus official cases are very stylish but really they're the least practical in terms of protection.

Firstly most of them are hard and would transfer the force from a drop directly to the phone.

Even silicone ones don't look very useful.

If you are worried about drops getting a rubbery case with thicker edges made to withstand drops would be Better.

I will sacrifice style for for protection.

But I'm still shocked the phone broke at such a small drop. Even without protection that's not too bad. Guess the don't make them like they used to. #3310

Damm I miss those times where the phones were tougher as hell and the battery used to long an entire week hahaha
the official cases, that bumper (not the protective case) which have in wood or carbon fiber looks nice and protective!

here is like 31€ but sometimes they reduce the price.

even with tempered glass installed, my screen underneath the tempered glass broke after falling waist- high corner-first on the concrete walk way. Tempered glass was ok but the screen is broken. Should have put a rugged armor case. Tempered glass is useless in my opinion.

OnePlus makes these wimpy cases because they sell more phones when you break them.
