9.0 has made the phone un-useable due to the new Recent Apps change.

Is there an easy way to revert to 8.1 without bootloader unlock?

Unlocking the bootloader is not even referred in any official instructions. See below:
Do bear in mind that this will wipe your phone.

Where to download the Beta Android 9 ROM? I'm currently on 180915. Is that a Beta ROM?

Is there any way to do this with the OTA build? I friggin hate the fact 9 messes with hotspot and android auto - I've been trying tonight to get 8.1 back but the phone won't see it - Short of unlocking and sticking pure android on there - is there a way?

If not ill have to swap it for a 5T which works fine in all areas - such a shame as this phone was £579 and for that I would expect better - OP say they are fixing it but they are too busy rolloing out the crap 7 which no one will want if OOS is as rubbish as it is on the 6T
