Enable 5G for Android 11 on OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 7 5G

    This is really atrocious. They keep on saying that with the next update they will fix this and all. Very much disappointed by their fake promises & all the more deceived by their so called "5G" branded phone.

    Hi Sam, I too face the same situation even after doing the whole steps. It shows as "5G restricted".
    Have you started getting 5G by now?
    I had initially enquired with the operator and they told me 5G has been enabled for my connection.
    Could you please update?

    With me i had no issues with the update but it didn't fix the 5G or the VoLTE .
    So you can update yours ( if you like) , you wiil need to do the steps again to enable the VoLTE and the 5G.
    These issues ( the VoLTE and the 5G) has been the same since oneplus 8 arrived to the market ! Nearly one year... I believe OnePlus 9 will come with the same issues !!!!

    One day customers will lose the patience and the confidence with OnePlus .

    OnePlus has punked all it's buyers with "5G" (including me), my friends are using 5G with Sony and Samsung on same service provider. And I have no one else to blame than myself to buy OnePlus Nord which doesn't support 5G. Have written multiple times to support but they keep bouncing off the concern. I wrote on OnePlus Facebook page and they deleted my post after like 8-9 mins.

    I had issues getting the files to have any effect on the OnePlus 8T, at least in the UK.

    Although the steps themselves were good, the files seemed to have no effect (and seem to be quite old too).

    I modded the stock files that came with the (EU) firmware. You can find them available here: https://github.com/francocm/oneplus8t-5g-newradio and used these new files, following the same steps as the original post here.

    The delta from stock is: https://github.com/francocm/oneplus8t-5g-newradio/compare/rev_0001...rev_0002

    The `*#*#4636#*#*` procedure and setting manually `NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA` on every reboot is still required unfortunately.

    OnePlus when are you fixing it in EU/UK once and for all? You've been promising a working OTA for a very long time!

    Hey @tobsin, I haven't done anything to fix the problem since then. Still stuck on 4g using a "5g capable phone". I guess ill just wait for oneplus to fix their phone. hopefully in 5 to 10 years they'll do it :(

    Hi, for me also the same situation. In cellmapper app, it shows 5G state as "Restricted" itself. I contacted Etisalat (operator) many times to inform the problem, but they still stick to the stand that it's already enabled for my connection. I lost all hopes with this "5G Phone"!!

    Do you also have the (IN2020) variant? If so, maybe its something that has to do with the bands this model supports. Although i had double checked the bands Etisalat covers for 5g and my model (IN2020) did match with what they offer.

    Hmmm... I replaced my SIM card a few weeks ago thinking it might be my 5 years old SIM that's causing the problem. Unfortunately, I'm still on 4g even with the new SIM installed. As for my carrier, I was told that 5g should work on my phone given that I am in a covered area and my SIM allows it.... As for the bands, my model supports the bands my carrier offers. So I'm really clueless here. What do you think i should do?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It just shows 5G but actually it is only 4g and you will get only 4g speed. Band support cannot be added this way. Bands are hardware based and oneplus totally screwed their customers by saying this is 5g phone but it is truly not.

    I'll find out tomorrow if this gets 5G on Verizon. I.like this phone but this is a nightmare. A year later they still can't enable 5G and Volte. Well actually I do get Volte on my factory unlocked model buy not on the T-Mobile variant

    Hey all, sorry for being this late to the thread, but I just got upgraded to a 5g plan. I have a 8 pro, but when I originally tried this, my devices disappeared in device manager, so QPST never found any ports. I have tried redoing the process many times, but the unknown drivers never show up again, so Im not sure where I went wrong or how to fix it.
