Encryption in Oxygen

Folks I would like to know that is it safe and useful to encrypt the one, has anyone tried it in Oxygen os ?

Also I've seen that after encryption we can't flash Roms using TWRP, so is there anyway to use TWRP with encryption (for instance - flashing nightlies or other Roms/updates)

Saw the downfall in performance by 5% on an encrypted nexus 5 but I think the one will handle it. Also I have about 23GB used space so shall I format the phone before encrypting as it takes many hours ? (I ain't gonna encrypt anytime soon though)...

Its safe, once flashed n encrypted forget about updateing via TWRP and wait for the Oxygen OTAs

I think twrp works with encryption as it worked before I decrypted my nexus 9 and I guess encrypting oxygen will be safe :)
But personally I don't see the need to encrypt as it normally has a bad effect on performance :(

Well nothing important, its just about trying the feature android provides to the users ... I guess its useful, that's the reason why Google sells pre encrypted nexus 6/9

Yup that's true ... It may lag the oxygen down, its by far the fastest and smoothest ROM I've ever tried on opo

So what does the storage looks after the device is encrypted...? I was not able to find a video or stuff regarding that.
Does it encrypts all the files and stuff like this (ES-File encrypt)
    Screenshot_2015-04-13-04-01-56.png
and decrypt everything after the screen is unlocked? Does it extend to the total internal storage or simply the /data partition.

PS. Don't take the pain by sharing official (googled) links regarding detailed explanations.. Brief text will do the job !!

I think it does it all automatically so that's why it slows :(
